The survey found that 40 percent of people had used e-government services, such as accessing statistical or tax information, or registering a company online, compared to a global average of just 30 percent.
State Services Minister Trevor Mallard has welcomed the results, saying that the results indicate that New Zealanders are well positioned to take advantage of all that the Internet offers.
He says the Government's e-government strategy is designed to meet the growing demand for on-line services, and to provide greater opportunities for people to participate in democracy.
Mr Mallard says he and the Prime Minister will be launching the Government's new web portal on November 14, which is designed to provide easy and fast online access to more than 3,500 government services and resources.
