  • IN: Partners Pin Hope on Government, Expects IT Spend to Grow: SOTM Mid-Year Survey 2015

    According to the ChannelWorld's State of the Mart Mid-Year survey (SOTM) 2015, 30 percent of the channel partners believe that IT spend in the government sector is likely to increase in next six months.

    Gartner Inc.’s report projecting IT spending in government sector in India to increase 5 percent, to touch USD 7.2 billion this year, comes as good news for this industry. Determining the fortunes of the IT service providers across the country, government IT budgets started to have more value than before.

    Emphasis on ‘Make in India’ and ‘Digital India’ campaign by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and use of emerging technologies to deliver smart services to Indian citizens is expected to help channel partners grow in the next six months.

  • India slips on UN e-governance list

    In spite of the growing Internet connectivity, increasing awareness of the Right to Information Act and a spurt in funding for e-governance programmes, the digital divide between the government and its citizens seems to be widening in India. The country's has fallen from a rank of 87 in 2005 to 113 in 2008 on e-government readiness.

    According to the UN E-government Survey 2008, India has slipped 26 places in the last three years and been overtaken by countries like Maldives (ranked 95), Sri Lanka (101) and even Iran (108). However, they too, have themselves slipped from their 2005 rankings.

    The recent Dataquest-IDC e-Governance Survey has identified Delhi, Goa, Chhattisgarh, Tamil Nadu and Kerala as the five best e-governed states of 2007.

    Bangalore may be considered India's IT capital, but when it comes to e-governance initiatives, Karnataka, which ranked No. 2 last year, has slipped to No. 9, according to a survey on the impact of e-governance on businesses and laypersons.   • Ireland slips in e-government rankings

    Ireland's reputation as a top performer in the provision of e-government services is declining as other Member States make advances.

    So says the annual report from Capgemini conducted on behalf of the European Commission, which placed Ireland fourth in Europe in terms of online sophistication of e-government services with a score of 84 percent. This score tied with the UK but was five points behind the leader, Sweden. Last year Ireland had a score of 86 percent, making it joint second with Denmark, and in 2001 Ireland topped the list with 68 percent.

  • Ireland: E-gov Web sites fail accessibility test

    A new survey has found that a number of central government Web sites exclude people with disabilities, despite stated requirements that they be made accessible.

    Ennis Information Age Services (EIAS), a company that specialises in accessibility, usability and on-line marketing services, published the survey. The report provides an analysis of the standards of accessibility achieved by the Web sites of Irish Government organisations.

  • Ireland: Half of Irish adults are off-line: report

    About 50 percent of Irish adults do not have access to the Internet and 40 percent have no interest in it, according to a report by the Information Society Commission.

    Irish government Web sites are far less accessible to citizens than their UK counterparts, with poor design and an over-reliance on PDF files partly to blame.

    This was the conclusion of the latest eGovernment Benchmarking Report compiled by IQ Content, which follows up on the first survey carried out early in 2003. The latest report benchmarks 40 Irish and UK e-government sites, to measure their effectiveness from the citizen's perspective.

  • Irish people want m-government: survey

    M-government has been named as a growth area following a survey which says that the public wants the ability to interact with government via mobile phones.

    Puca, a mobile messaging and data services provider, commissioned research company Amarach Consulting to undertake the survey of Ireland's mobile phone users, almost half of which said they would be interested in communicating with the government and public sector departments using their mobile phones.

Das Wachstum werde dabei in allen 14 untersuchten Branchen erfolgen, teilte Gartner heute, Dienstag, mit. Vor zwei Jahren hatten fünf Segmente sinkende Ausgaben aufgewiesen, im Vorjahr waren die IT-Ausgaben immerhin noch bei drei Sektoren rückläufig.
