New Orleans Mayor LaToya Cantrell is asking the City Council to approve a $3.2 million contract with Entergy New Orleans to create a “Smart City Pilot” program in the Central Business District. The proposal includes the installation of 90 video cameras that may, at some point, be used by law enforcement through the city’s crime surveillance program.

The plan is to install two pieces of technology on street lamps along Poydras and Canal Streets — “Photo Nodes” to help collect data on streetlight outages and “Advanced Camera Sensor Devices,” or ACSDs.

e-Government is a crucial element in linking the government with stakeholders to better drive economic development and poverty alleviation in Myanmar, said State Counsellor Daw Aung San Suu Kyi.

“I want Myanmar people to understand and apply these technologies. Technologies should be modified into Myanmar versions gradually so that even ordinary Myanmar people can become accustomed to modern technologies,” she said in her opening remark as Patron of the e-Government Steering Committee, at the 4th e-Government Conference & ICT Exhibition held at the MICC-2 in Nay Pyi Taw, on Tuesday.

The Information and eGovernment Authority (iGA) has announced the launch of a new service allowing the owners of public transport vehicles such as taxis and tour buses to renew vehicle registrations online via National Portal bahrain.bh.

Launched in co-ordination with the Ministry of Transportation and Telecommunications (MTT) and the General Directorate of Traffic (GDT) and the Ministry of Transportation and Telecommunications (MTT), the service allows individuals and business owners to renew registrations of public transport vehicles via single transaction, as both MTT and GDT’s and MTT’s fees have been combined as one payment that doesn’t require separate reviews by each organisation, saving users’ time and effort.

Digital Salford, the collaboration of key stakeholders in the City of Salford, has published its ambitious new Digital Strategy setting out some clear intentions for Salford to become an internationally recognised connected digital city. It includes the launch of MediaCityUK’s first Smart City Accelerator.

Salford’s race to become a Smart City was boosted further with the official publication of its Digital Strategy and the launch of a Smart City Accelerator. The Accelerator, sponsored by MediaCityUK and CBRE, will be based at The Landing in 2020 and will be the first of its kind in the region aimed at innovation companies who are looking to develop and demonstrate smart solutions for both build and environmental management.
