Cisco Systems is organising the event in partnership with the Central Informatics Organisation (CIO), under the patronage of Royal Court head Shaikh Mohammed bin Ateyatalla Al Khalifa.

It was aimed at providing them with an insight into the best practices for implementing e-Government around the world and their latest developments.

Organised in collaboration with partners Quint Wellington Redwood, Versa PAC Sdn Bhd and iCo-op.netPte Ltd, the event was also held by Computer Associates International to enhance participants' awareness on the topic with its focuses on cooperation and a case study.

Slated for May 11 to 13 at the Radisson Hotel (formerly Sheraton Utama Hotel), the conference is expected to be attended by government officers, professors and experts from OECD members and nonmember Asian Pacific countries involved in public governance, according to a press statement from the Prime Minister's Office.

The Third China E-Government Technology and Application Exhibition, jointly organized by the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the Ministry of Science and Technology and the Ministry of Information Technology, also includes forums and other special events.

Chen Dawei, deputy director of the Information Technology Office of the State Council, said, "The e-government websites in most provinces have helped the local governments more easily reach local residents and therefore make the administrative work more transparent and efficient."

Throughout history, it has become clear that the key to long-lasting and sustainable projects is to lay solid foundations. Our society is headed towards a more urban future in which the density of metropolises will be ever greater. That is why this more urban tomorrow requires modern urban planning capable of building innovative, sustainable and flexible structures. Because the only way to make our society live better is to build better.

To achieve this goal, we must adopt integrated approaches that take advantage of emerging technologies and sustainable practices. Here, the positive impact that technological tools such as BIM or Construction Management Software are already having on the development of construction activity is undeniable. BIM is the most widespread and widely used technology, since it makes it possible to design and envision the work in a virtual environment before building it in the real world, thereby avoiding hypothetical errors in the various stages of construction.

This conference, entitled “Towards Innovative Transformation in the Public Sector”, was organised jointly by the European Commission and the EU’s Irish Presidency, to help policy-makers design the next steps in their strategies for eGovernment modernisation and innovation in public administrations, in line with the eEurope 2005 Action Plan.

Rund 150 Gäste und Mitwirkende aus ganz Deutschland haben am Mittwoch an der Fachtagung "Internetportale als Kernstück des kommunalen eGovernments" in Ludwigslust teilgenommen.

In seiner Begrüßungsrede betonte Innenminister Gottfried Timm (SPD) die Notwendigkeit, ebenenübergreifend zu kooperieren und die vorhandenen Möglichkeiten gerade auch zwischen Ministerien abzustimmen. Mit dem Modellprojekt "eGovernment Region Westmecklenburg" geht das Land gemeinsam mit den fünf Gebietskörperschaften den Weg, eine gemeinsame Struktur aufzubauen, die den Kunden der Verwaltung, Wirtschaft wie Bürgern, einen einheitlichen Zugang zu den Dienstleistungen verschiedener Verwaltungsebenen, von der Kommune bis zum Land online anbietet.

Den Umstieg von Windows auf die freie Software Linux diskutierten am Freitag 80 IT-Verantwortliche von Behörden aus Österreich, Deutschland, der Schweiz und Südtirol beim ersten Vorarlberger Linux-Kongress.

The conference will provide companies with insight on how new technology can enable many e-government initiatives.

“The challenge for government is to continually have to balance the need for improved productivity while maintaining its societal position as one of the country's largest employers,” says Lisa Helm, The Business Zone 1073's production director.

The 11th GCC e-Government Forum was held at the Al Multaqa Ballroom, Dubai World Trade Center, Dubai UAE.

The forum focused on the latest e-Government developments & initiatives. It highlighted how nations are preparing their communities, businesses and managements using e-Government.

Salem Al Shair, Director eServices, Dubai eGovernment. The event will bring together senior decision-makers from the region's governments, including GCC e-government teams, and organisations from across the region and the globe.

The conference entitled "From E-Government to I-Government: How Information Government will Revolutionize the Public Sector" to be held on 23 - 24 May 2005, is being organised by the Dubai School of Government (DSG) in partnership with Harvard University's John F. Kennedy School of Government.
