    The Akhbar Al Sa'a (News of the Hour) Bulletin has highlighted the importance of the Smart Government initiative as representing a turning point in the march of government work in the U.A.E. which paves the way for the transition to the post e-Government stage through the provision of government services to citizens via smart devices, facilitating their access to them anywhere and anytime.

  • AE: Al Mansouri expresses satisfaction at findings of report on e-government transition

    Minister of Economy Sultan bin Saeed Al Mansouri has expressed satisfaction at the results of the final report on transition to m-Government, which showed the marked progress the UAE is making under the wise leadership of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan and His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai.

    ''Findings of the report have highlighted the scale of positive interaction of teamworks in government entities with the two year grace period set out by Vice President to make the transition towards m-government, which was crowned today by HH's announcement of excellent results that reflected the scale of progress in e-services the federal government is providing to clients as part of the government modernisation initiative,'' Al Mansouri said in a statement following the release of the final report on m-government.

  • AE: Al Midfa: Keen to boost E-Governance in Sharjah's tourism sector

    Sharjah Tourism launches interactive map of the Emirate. Al Midfa said the new Sharjah Interactive Map is part of the Authority’s policy and efforts to enforce and boost smart, e-governance solutions in all areas and activities of the tourism sector in the Emirate.

    HE Khalid Jasim Al Midfa, Director General, Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority has said that the Authority is keen to upgrade and develop all its services in keeping with the directives of the Sharjah Government and UAE Government on the optimum utilisation of smart e-governance services and information in the Emirate. In this respect, he said, the SCTDA is working on a number of pilot projects in the field of information technology to develop and improve customer service solutions to effectively promote Sharjah and its tourism sector.

    "The RTA has mapped out an integrated strategy to convert and deliver services online in keeping with the vision and drive of the Dubai eGovernment in envisaging the delivery of creative electronic services that meet the aspirations and expectations of customers with a view to enabling them process their transactions online without having to visit customer service centers," Al Tayer made these comments while receiving Ahmed Mohammed bin Humaidan, Director General of Dubai eGovernment, at RTA premises in the presence of the CEO of Corporate Technical Support Services Sector Abdullah Al Madani, CEO of Licensing Agency Ahmed Hashim Bahrozyan, and several directors of the RTA.

    RTA Dubai App surged from 20,000 to 45,000 transactions per day this year

    The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has completed the automation and renovation of public parking machines across the city, with touch screens and issuance of e-ticket and text messages sent to mobile phones using the mParking system.

    RTA said in a press statement on Tuesday that going automated in line with meeting “the needs of the Smart City initiative and Dubai Paperless Strategy.”

This indicates the success of the call centre as an effective unified point of contact providing information services through multiple channels.

Ahmed Bin Humaidan, Director General of Dubai eGovernment Department, said: "AskDubai embodies eGovernment's core vision based on easing the lives of citizens, residents, visitors and businesses as it plays a significant role in enhancing the quality and efficiency of the government services provided to various sections of society in the emirate, in both Arabic and English.

  • AE: Awqaf and Minors Affairs Foundation joins Dubai eGovernment's ePay gateway

    Dubai eGovernment announced today signing of an agreement with the Awqaf and Minors Affairs Foundation (AMAF), on the sidelines of GITEX Technology Week 2011.

    The agreement is in line with Dubai eGovernment's efforts to offer a range of innovative channels based on its 'customer first' approach. More than 24 government entities currently use Dubai eGovernment's ePay gateway to offer eServices to their individual and corporate users; who can now make instant online payments through a broad network of banks and multiple payment options.

    In line with the National Day celebrations, and in an initiative that aims at providing free access to E-government services to citizens and residents, Batelco, Bahrain’s leading internet service provider and eGovernment Authority (eGA) jointly entered into a collaboration that will provide – for the first time – free web access to the E-Government portal and Ministry websites for all Batelco fixed line and mobile customers. This would include all web pages and electronic services provided from within the portals. The free access will also include those who do not have an active fixed broadband or mobile data subscription with Batelco.

    The UAE yesterday launched a national strategy for artificial intelligence (AI) to improve customer services, assess government performance and increase living standards as well as to harness AI technology in the transport, tourism, health and education sectors.

    The AI strategy 2031 was launched during Sunday’s Cabinet meeting chaired by His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, in the presence of Lt Gen Shaikh Saif Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, and Shaikh Mansour Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs.

    The Cabinet has endorsed the federal electronic government plan till 2014 to upgrade the transition efforts to the electronic services, set up an advanced electronic infrastructure and provide appropriate legal basis for provision of advanced electronic services.

    Chairing the Council of Ministers session here today at the Presidential Palace, Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum said that all the ministries and federal institutions are required within two years from now to provide comprehensive electronic services to public.
