  • UAE: eGovernment Websites to be brought into line

    Dubai eGovernment will carry out a usability audit to ensure that government departments’ websites incorporated in the Dubai eGovernment portal are in compliance with uniform standards set by the organisation.

    A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), signed by Dubai eGovernment, gave Masiya Net FZ, a subsidiary of Afflatus, the responsibility of analysing government departments’ websites, and advising them if they do not adhere to eGovernment guidelines.

  • UAE: Egyptian delegation briefed on eTransformation initiatives of Dubai eGovernment

    Dubai eGovernment Department received last week a delegation from the Egyptian government, which visited the emirate to learn more about Dubai's eTransformation initiatives and the Government Resource Planning (GRP) System. The Egyptian delegation also reviewed how the GRP System has been able to link different government departments and provide a unified platform to efficiently manage their internal resources and processes, while ensuring optimised privacy and confidentiality.

    The Egyptian delegation included Amr Zahra, Advisor to the Egyptian Minister of Finance for Automation of State's General Budget; Samer Abdel Maqsoud, General Budget Automation Project Manager at the Egyptian Ministry of Finance; and Majed Shawqi, Operations Manager, e-Finance Company. They were joined by Ahmed Mohammed Bin Humaidan, Director General of Dubai eGovernment; Matar Saeed Al Humairi, Dubai eGovernment's Director of Infrastructure Management; Mohammed Karzoun, Director of GRP Systems at Dubai eGovernment; and Khalil Saqer, Director of Marketing & Communication, Dubai eGovernment.

  • UAE: eHealth card will be mandatory

    Before applying for a residence visa, expatriates and companies in the UAE will have to acquire a mandatory eHealth card, which is a combination of the eGate card and the health card.

    The Department of Health and Medical Services (Dohms) and Dubai Naturalisation and Residency Department (DNRD) yesterday signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to boost the residence visa process aimed at establishing a one-stop-shop for mandatory medical examination and eGate requirements.

  • UAE: eHosting DataFort Signs MoU with Dubai eGovernment to Promote e-Services

    eHosting DataFort (EHDF), a member of TECOM Investments, today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Dubai eGovernment (DEG) to promote e-services and ultimately create a paperless, electronic environment in the UAE.

    The agreement was signed by Mohamed Fouz, CEO, EHDF and His Excellency Salem Al Shair, Director eServices, DEG, at the GITEX Technology Week 2008 that opened on 19 October and will run until the 23 October at the Dubai International Exhibition and Convention Centre.

  • UAE: EIDA begins issuing new generation ID cards

    The Emirates Identity Authority (EIDA) has begun issuing new generation identity cards, capable of storing additional data of the cardholder.

    The development comes as part of the EIDA’s new strategy to improve e-services as well as to provide better access to info for all the departments.

    Dr Ali Khouri, Director-General of the EIDA, expressed his delight on this unique achievement of the authority, which enabled the UAE to be the first country in the world to adopt this technology.

  • UAE: eIntro Contest For Students On Dubai Muncipality eGovernment Initiative

    Dubai Municipality has launched an e-Intro contest for students of universities, higher colleges and institutions in the UAE, which will involve presenting activities, history and achievements of the municipality’s e-Government initiative.

    Announcing this, Majid Sultan Al Muhairi, Head of e-Government Services Section at Dubai Municipality, said the applicants have to design a professional template that can be used to present the sample data in an interactive way. E-Intro could be a PowerPoint or Flash file where it can be easily edited. Content for the presentation can be taken from Dubai Municipality’s web portal (www.dm.gov.ae) by clicking on the link provided in the "Announcements" channel.

  • UAE: eJob platform to provide direct access to job-seekers

    eJob, Dubai eGovernment’s centralized recruitment system that brings together job-seekers and government departments on one electronic platform, has attracted over 3,700 CVs since its launch, in April 2003, as an online link over the portal www.dubai.ae. A total of 24 government departments have registered with the service, 11 of whom are actively interacting with job-seekers.

  • UAE: eJob portal to benefit local, expatriate jobseekers

    The Dubai government will create new opportunities for job seekers and employers in the Emirate through the eJob portal that aims to provide enhanced employment services for both locals and expatriates in the public and private sectors.

    Job seekers can now post their CVs on the bilingual eJob portal (http://ejob.dubai.ae), previously servicing local citizens in the public sector only, and search for available full-time and part-time vacancies, while employers will be able to advertise positions and access a rich database of candidates, searching for those with the qualifications and skills needed for their businesses.

  • UAE: Electronic data speeds up trials

    The Ministry of Interior and the Ministry of Justice are to be connected electronically, in an attempt to enhance data transfers to help speed up criminal trials and other cases.

    Brigadier Ahmad Nasser Al Raissi, General Director of the General Directorate of Abu Dhabi Police, said the two ministries will be electronically linked as part of an e-Government programme.

  • UAE: Emcredit highlights role of public-private partnerships in boosting transparency

    Emcredit, the UAE's first private credit information company, today called for greater cooperation from private and public sector entities in addressing financial risk and adopting international standards and data-sharing processes in order to boost transparency in the country.

    A senior official of the company highlighted that information-driven tools are crucial for the long-term growth of the UAE, in particular for the financial and real estate sectors.

  • UAE: Emcredit to access data from Dubai government

    Emcredit, the UAE's first independent credit bureau, on Friday signed a technical integration agreement with Dubai eGovernment. Under the agreement, relevant credit and business information from Dubai government departments will be transmitted to Emcredit.

    The agreement was signed by Salem Khamis Al Shair, eServices director at Dubai eGovernment and Bashar Saleh Qallab, CEO of Emcredit.

  • UAE: Emirate projects get CRM rollout

    Dubai Healthcare City is one the projects to get CRM. Dubai Holding, the umbrella company for some of the emirate’s largest ventures, is rolling out a massive customer relationship management (CRM) system across all of its operations, its senior IT boss revealed to IT Weekly.

    According to Sabri Al-Azazi, chief information officer (CIO) for Dubai Holding, the implementation has already begun and will cover all of Dubai Holding’s businesses by the end of this year.

    The First Law Firm in Middle East to adopt ePay service

    Dubai eGovernment has recently announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Emirates Advocates, one of the largest law firms in the UAE and Middle East, to facilitate the use of its ePay service by the clients of the firm. ePay is a centralized payment gateway integrated with the payment systems of government departments, thereby enabling payment through credit cards, eDirham or the direct debit facility.

These Reference Manuals, the first of their kind in the UAE, provide the guidelines, requirements, facilities and constraints necessary for uniform development and maintenance of government services.

  • UAE: Emirates Post and Ministry of Finance & Industry partner to sell eDirham

    Emirates Post and the UAE Ministry of Finance & Industry today announced that all main post offices in the UAE will offer the facility of sale and re-charge of eDirham cards, following an agreement between the two organisations.

    The announcement was made at a joint press conference addressed by Mr. Salem Al Shaya, Assistant Director General, Operations, Emirates Post, and Mr. Khalid Al Jawhary, Director of Revenue Department, UAE Ministry of Finance & Industry, at Emirates Post headquarters in Dubai.
