    Dubai Municipality Public Transport Department gets Enterprise Asset Management solution to manage fleet

    Dubai eGovernment has deployed an Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) solution, to help manage maintenance and procurement of Dubai Municipality's Public Transport Department.

    The EAM, which is integrated with Dubai's Government Resource Planning (GRP) system will monitor all processes relating to periodic and corrective maintenance, equipment and spare parts for the Municipality's fleet of 2,000 light and heavy vehicles. The EAM runs from data in a central database that helps in monitoring the extent of damages, estimating repair costs, optimizing preventive maintenance plans, upgrading asset management and planning and distributing available resources.

    The Environmental and Health Education Office at Dubai Municipality on Wednesday launched its website, www.awareness.dm.ae.

    The ceremony was organized as part of the Environmental and Health Education Office's activities on the occasion of the World Environment Day, which falls on June 5.

  • UAE: Etihad Airways: new on–board health monitor system to be introduced

    Etihad Airways will install new state-of-the-art technology on its long and ultra long haul aircraft which can monitor the condition of passengers who display signs of sickness that might require immediate medical attention.

    The “Tempus IC” system allows cabin crew to gather vital information about a passenger’s health quickly and efficiently. The data covers a wide range of the passenger’s ‘vital signs’ including blood pressure and an electrocardiogram. It also allows the crew to take photo imagery.

  • UAE: Etisalat Academy to conduct assessment and development programme for Dubai eGovernment staff

    The Competency Centre at the Etisalat Academy was chosen by Dubai eGovernment to assess and develop its staff as part of a training agreement.

    The Etisalat Academy, in collaboration with senior consultants of the SHL Group, will handle the assessment and development programme that is specially designed for the eGovernment staff.

  • UAE: Etisalat and Musanada sign MoU for Abu Dhabi Government Network

    As part of Abu Dhabi's e-government service initiative, Etisalat and Abu Dhabi General Services "Musanada", signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), to establish a government-wide network (ADNET) that will provide highly secure and reliable connections between all of Abu Dhabi's governmental entities. Signing the MoU were Musanada Chief Executive Officer, H.E Mohamed Al-Fahed Al-Mehairi and Etisalat's Senior Vice President - Enterprise Solutions, Abdullah Hashim.

    The ADNET MoU signed at a ceremony held on the Musanada premises in Abu Dhabi marked the soft launch of ADNET and the completion of the implementation of the network infrastructure and the establishment of a 24x7 Network Operations Centre (NOC).

  • UAE: Etisalat customises mobile apps

    Telecom operator etisalat has linked up with government bodies as part of an aggressive approach to the development of customised mobile applications for iPhone and BlackBerry users.

    The operator has been working on the supply of mobile-based applications with the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Economy and the Abu Dhabi Education Council (ADEC).

    Visitors to the Dubai eGovernment's new portal www.dubai.ae have given the website the thumbs up.

    The one-stop link to all government departments was launched last Wednesday and hundreds of people have already logged on.

    Of those, one in four is a resident, 11 per cent live abroad, nine per cent are UAE nationals and a further four per cent are visitors to Dubai. Angel Jwala, 24, who came to the UAE from India a month ago to find a job, said the website is must for those who need to interact with government departments.

    Abu Dhabi Systems and Information Centre (ADSIC), the steward of the Abu Dhabi Spatial Data Infrastructure (AD-SDI), was awarded for 'Special Achievement in GIS' during the GIS Award Ceremony at the 40th ESRI International User Conference on July 15, 2009.

    Thousands of organizations worldwide were nominated for the "Special Achievement in GIS" award. ADSIC was recognized for setting precedents throughout the GIS community and making an extraordinary contribution to the global society.

  • UAE: Expansion of e-services planned

    October marks the second anniversary of Dubai Municipality's interactive website which is continuing to expand.

    Some 56 e-services are now provided to residential and business customers, as well as a directory of services carrying information about 263 services. The site, www.dm.gov.ae, was launched in October 2001.

  • UAE: Expatriates can now apply for e-citizen identity cards

    Expatriates will be able to obtain an e-citizen identity card from the Dubai e-Government along with UAE nationals.

    Rehab Lootah, Director of the Development of Government Services, said the e-citizen programme is open to both UAE nationals and expatriates living in Dubai.

    More than 1,055 people, 80 per cent of whom are expatriates of various nationalities, have applied to obtain the membership of the e-citizen programme launched recently by Dubai Government.

    "It is imperative to seek the maximum benefit from modern technology solutions to support the achievements and successes of the banking sector in the region, which capitalised on the robust economic and social growth, to avoid the repercussions resulting from the current financial turmoil that is sweeping across all the sectors of the global economy," said Khalid Al Bustani, executive director for Budget Affairs and International Relations at the Ministry of Finance.

    The UAE federal e-Government represented by the Ministry of Finance and Industry (MOFI) and Dubai e-Government have begun a series of meetings that will eventually witness further cooperating between the two entities to enhance the implementation of e-Government initiatives at the federal level.

  • UAE: Federal e-government project launch at GITEX

    The UAE federal e-government project is all set for a big launch at GITEX on October 17. The portal will deliver easier and efficient services to citizens and businesses.

    “As of October 17, the UAE federal e-government is to be officially launched at the GITEX exhibition, spanning 50 federal entities and seven local governments,” Salem Al Shair, Director-General, General Information Authority, told Khaleej Times.

  • UAE: Federal e-government strategy set to take all departments online

    The government is working on a federal e-government strategy in order to take public sector activities fully online, Economy Minister Shaikha Lubna Al Qasimi said yesterday.

    "The Ministry of Government Development is taking this initiative. There is a council created to mobilise this initiative at the federal level," Shaikha Lubna told Gulf News.

  • UAE: Federal Government portal launched

    The UAE Government portal (government.ae) was launched on Sunday, the opening day of GITEX 2010, by Shaikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai.

    The portal is part of the federal e-Government programme and another success in the e-Transformation process in the UAE. It combines all government services offered to individuals and businesses.

  • UAE: Federal government reviews eProject tracking system

    Headed by HE Ibrahim Abdel Malek, under secretary for the Ministry of Public Works (MoPW), the e-government team of the UAE’s Ministry of Finance and Industry (MoFI) has discussed the latest developments in the implementation schedule of the eProject system. MoPW has been assigned by the e-government executive committee to oversee the project.

    Held in the Ministry of Public Works’ headquarters, the meeting was attended by Dr. Emir Mavani, the federal e-government programme director at MoFI, and Ahmed Bin Ghannam, e-government programme manager in Etisalat’s business unit, eCompany, which is the technical partner of federal e-government for all the ICT needs of the project.
