  • USA: IRS.gov Cited as Most Reliable Government Web Site

    The Internal Revenue Service has the nation's most reliable e-government Web site according to a leading private sector company that measures Web site performance.

    Keynote Systems announced that IRS.gov is one of the first winners of the Keynote Performance Awards, a new awards program designed to recognize excellence in Web site performance. Keynote honored the fastest and most reliable Web sites in three categories: e-commerce, e-government and online travel and hospitality.

  • USA: Kentucky ranked seventh in digital survey

    The Center for Digital Government’s 2008 Digital States Survey ranks Kentucky as the seventh-most tech-savvy state government in the country.

    This year marks Kentucky’s highest ranking in the survey, which is in its eighth year of publication.

    The state was ranked eighth in the last survey, published in 2006, and ranked 12th in the 2004 survey and 24th in the 2002 survey.

  • USA: Kentucky: Survey credits Louisville for use of technology

    Louisville’s city government is one of the best in the country in using technology to better serve its citizens, according to a new survey.

    Metro Government placed second nationally behind Boston among cities of more than 250,000 population in the Digital Cities Survey, conducted by e.Republic’s Center for Digital Government.

    The survey looks at how well city governments use information technology in improving and delivering basic services, managing budgets, providing public safety and other areas.

  • USA: Kentucky's Office of the Secretary of State Receives International Award

    The Kentucky Office of the Secretary of State's Web site (http://sos.ky.gov) recently received international recognition as one of the outstanding government Web sites in the world from the Web Marketing Association. The Web site received the Standard of Excellence WebAward.

    The Web Marketing Association's WebAward Competition had a record 2,100 entries from 33 countries in 2005.

  • USA: Kentucky’s websites gain recognition

    Kentucky’s state website kentucky.gov won a best of the web award from the Center for Digital Government (CDG). The award ranks Kentucky as one of the top five state web portals in the country for innovation, functionality and efficiency. In addition to the state web portal Louisville, Kentucky also placed second for best municipal website.

    Kentucky has been a leader in working towards more transparency and improved service delivery through online initiatives, the state’s e-transparency site – Open Door was also recognized as best in the nation. Smaller sites like Kentucky at Work have also been recognized for citizen engagement.

  • USA: Maine Receives Three National Awards for Online Government Services

    State Website www.Maine.gov Ranked in Top 4 for the Past 11 Years

    The Maine State Web Portal, www.Maine.gov has once again clinched a high placement as one of the best state government Web portals of 2010. Maine also received two prestigious awards for online state government services chosen for their innovation and effectiveness.

    Maine.gov received a fourth-place ranking from the Center for Digital Government in its annual Best of the Web competition. Government websites are evaluated based on their innovation, Web-based delivery of public services, efficiency, economy and functionality. This award marks ten top-four placements for Maine.gov in the competition since 2000, a record held by no other state in the country.

  • USA: Maine.gov Wins Seventh National Best of the Web Award

    On behalf of the state of Maine, Chief Information Officer Dick Thompson recently accepted the second place 2007 Best of the Web Award for the Maine State Web Portal, www.Maine.gov. The Maine.gov portal has been an award winner seven times in this prestigious national competition – in every year of eligibility since 2000 – which is more than any other state government portal.

    “We are very pleased and honored to receive a top ranking in Best of the Web again this year,” said Governor John Baldacci. “Our goal for Maine.gov is to provide innovations that make interacting with state government as easy and efficient as possible. This award shows us that we are achieving that goal while providing an economical and useful service to the citizens of Maine.”

  • USA: Maine's Official Web Site Ranked Best in the Nation

    Maine.gov Recognized as `Best of the Web' by the Center for Digital Government

    The results are in, and Maine's official Web site has been named best in the nation. The state's Internet portal (www.Maine.gov) has been ranked number one in the 2004 Best of the Web national competition for eGovernment excellence. Maine placed first among a field of more than 300 public sector Web sites, marking the fifth consecutive year the state has been ranked among the top four finishers.

    Gov. John E. Baldacci and Secretary of State Dan A. Gwadosky announced that Maine's official web portal, Maine.gov, has won first place in the Center for Digital Government's annual Best of the Web Competition. Maine has been nationally recognized as the best state government web portal in the 2004 Best of the web national competition for eGovernment excellence.

    The official Web site of Maine — Maine.gov — created, operated and maintained by Olathe-based NIC Inc., has been selected as the best in the nation.

    The state's Internet portal is No. 1 in the 2004 Best of the Web national competition for e-government excellence. Maine placed first among more than 300 public-sector Web sites, marking the fifth consecutive year the state has been ranked among the top four.

  • USA: Massachusetts: Chelmsford honored for information on its Web site

    Massachusetts may have placed 38th in the nation in online accessibility to public records, but on a micro-level, Chelmsford fared much better with its ability to keep residents informed through the town’s Web site: www.townofchelmsford.us.

    “It’s part of our effort for open access and to provide information to residents,” said Town Manager Paul Cohen.

  • USA: Massachusetts: Local communities’ Web sites honored

    Common Cause gave e-Government Awards to Carver, Easton, Kingston, Lakeville and Plympton for openness in government because they post six vital records.

    Five local communities were among 90 cities and towns to receive awards from Common Cause for openness in government because they post six vital records on their municipal Web sites.

    Receiving the e-Government Award this week were Carver, Easton, Kingston, Lakeville and Plympton.

  • USA: Massachusetts: Pembroke: Town Web site earns award for openness

    Pembroke’s new face on the World Wide Web has garnered some attention from more than the occasional Web surfer, earning the town the 2009 e-Government Award from Common Cause Massachusetts.

    The award, started in 2006, rewards communities for posting important documents on their Web sites and opening up local government to the public, Common Cause Executive Director Pam Wilmot said. Only 24 towns earned the designation in eGov’s first year. Now, that number is up to 117 — roughly a third of the communities in Massachusetts.

  • USA: Massachusetts: Saugus receives Common Cause E-Government Award

    On behalf of the town of Saugus, Town Clerk Joanne Rappa and Assistant Clerk Marianne Moses Tuesday accepted the 2008 E-Government Award at the State House.

    At a State House event, Common Cause Massachusetts presented the 2008 E-Government Award to 90 cities and towns from across the Commonwealth.

  • USA: Massachusetts: Town of Easton honored for government openness on its Web site

    Easy availability of information commended

    Easton was one of 45 communities in Massachusetts honored Wednesday as a “superstar” by Common Cause’s Massachusetts Campaign for Open Government because of the information available on its town Web site.

    “E-Government” awards were presented in a ceremony at the Statehouse during “Sunshine Week,” an annual event created to increase awareness about open government issues nationwide.

  • USA: Massachusetts: Westford cited for technology excellence

    Westford was one of 24 communities in the state presented with the Common Cause Massachusetts E-Government Award at a State House event Tuesday.

    Common Cause is a nonpartisan citizen's organization whose goal is to ensure open, honest, accountable and effective government at the federal, state, and local levels. Selectmen Chairwoman Valerie Wormell and Town IT Director Christopher McClure attended the ceremony to accept the award on behalf of Westford.

  • USA: Montana Wins eGovernment Service Awards

    Two of Montana's eGovernment Services have won the Center for Digital Government’s Digital Government Achievement Awards ranking the top government agency and department Web sites and digital applications.

    The Secretary of State's Office was recognized for the Candidate Filing service. The service allows candidates to file online as a candidate for a qualified political party, or as a candidate for a non-partisan office. A current list of individuals who have declared candidacy is also provided. Candidate Filing won in the Government-to-Citizen Category.   • USA: NASCIO spots innovative state IT projects

    A wireless public safety project and an emergency management system are among the eight projects to be recognized this year by the National Association of State Chief Information Officers.

    NASCIO, an organization representing state CIOs, announced Sept. 21, the winners of the association’s 2004 Recognition Awards for Outstanding Achievement in the Field of Information Technology and the recipient of its annual Meritorious Service Award.

  • USA: National Public Service Award Winners Announced

    Cosponsored by the American Society for Public Administration and the National Academy of Public Administration

    Winners of the prestigious National Public Service Awards, the premier awards for excellence in public service at all levels of government, have been announced by the American Society for Public Administration (ASPA) and the National Academy of Public Administration (NAPA). They will be presented on Monday, April 4, at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Milwaukee, WI, at noon, at the ASPA National Conference.
