  • Saudi Arabia reaps two UN world-class awards in IT and e-Services

    Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has reaped two world-class awards from the United Nations in the area of Communications and Information Technology (CIT) and government e-Services.

    The two prizes have been awarded for both Ministry of Education relating to its significant system "NOUR", and the Human Resources Development Fund with reference to its Program "HAFIZ".

    Prince Faisal Bin Abdullah Al-Saud, Minister of Education, and Eng. Adel Bin Mohamed Fakih, Minster of Labour, dedicated the two awards to Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah Bin Abdulaziz, and his Crown Prince Naif Bin Abdulaziz, for their constant efforts in supporting all government Agencies to achieve development and offer simple e-Services for beneficiaries including individuals, business sector and all government agencies.

  • Saudi Arabia: e-TP gets award again

    The Electronic Transformation Program (e-TP) of the Saudi Arabia’s Saline Water Conversion Corporation (SWCC) has won for the second time “The Energy and Utilities Implementation of the Year Award” at the Arab Technology Awards 2010.

    The Arab Technology Awards recognize the outstanding work of private and public sector companies in the field of information technology in the Gulf region.

    Receiving the award at the gala event held at Armani Hotel in Dubai last Monday, e-TP Director Abdullah Al-Khedher said winning the award again amid fierce competition “speaks volumes about e-TP successes and achievements.”

  • Saudi Commission for Tourism and Antiquities one of the best among 10 e-government entities

    According to the e-government program (Yesser), the Saudi Commission for Tourism and Antiquities won a leading position among the top ten government agencies that apply e-governance practices.

    Dr. Abdul Aziz Bin Mohammed Al-Sheikh, acting vice president of support affairs, pointed out that out of more than 56 governmental authorities that were subjected to an intensive screening program to determine their success applying the practices of e-governance, SCTA ranked first with 83.19 percent (Full Achievement) - from the conceptual point to the provision of intended services.

  • Saudi govt project wins top IT award

    The Saudi Arabian Government's Holy Makkah Municipality (HMM) has been recognised with a 2012 "Honorary Recognition Award" by the international IT architecture firm iCMG for its new e-Government initiatives.

    Omnix International, a leading IT solutions provider, partnered with international IT solution provider Oracle corporation to provide a best-in-class e-Government solution for HMM's municipal operations, which employs more than 3000 professionals.

  • Schleswig-Holstein:Projekt des Kr. Bad Segeberg wurde auf CeBIT ausgezeichnet

    Der Kreis Segeberg, seit langem Vorreiter im Bereich "E-Government", also dem Einsatz moderner Kommunikationssysteme in der Verwaltung, ist auf der Computermesse CeBIT in Hannover vom BundesWirtschaftsministerium ausgezeichnet worden.

    Wie die Kreisverwaltung mitteilte, hat der Parlamentarische Staatssekretär Rezzo Schlauch den ersten mit 10 000 Euro dotierten "Best-Practice-Award MEDIA@Komm-Transfer" verliehen. Prämiert wurde das gemeinsame Projekt zwischen der Freien und Hansestadt Hamburg und dem Kreis Segeberg "Geodaten XPlanung". Das "Ressortübergreifende Geoinformationssystem" erschließt im Bereich der Bauleitplanung völlig neue Möglichkeiten.

  • Schweiz: Zürichs e-Voting-Projekt erhält Auszeichnung der Vereinten Nationen

    Den Public Service Award 2007 der Vereinten Nationen gewann der Kanton Zürich für sein e-Voting-Projekt, wie die Zürcher Staatskanzlei am vergangenen Sonntag, anlässlich einer eidgenössischen Volksabstimmung bekannt gab. Im Rahmen des siebten Globalen Forums der UNO zum Thema "Reinventing Government" wird die UNO-Auszeichnung für "exzellente Leistungen im Namen des öffentlichen Interesses" an den Kanton Zürich verliehen. Der Kanton wird die Auszeichnung in der Kategorie "Förderung der Teilnahme an politischen Entscheidungsprozessen durch innovative Mechanismen" am 26. Juni bei der UNO in Wien in Empfang nehmen.

  • Singapore E-Government Wins United Nations Special Awards

    In light of its dedication towards the public sector, the Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore (IDA) received a special award in the United Nations (UN) e-Government Survey in New York, clinching the No. 2 spot in the global e-participation ranking. This award is shared with the Ministry of Information, Communications and the Arts (MICA).

    "Earning the UN e-Government Survey 2012 Special Award further solidifies Singapore's place in the international market as a creator and driver of e-Government initiatives," said Kevin Chan, Centre Director Designate, Middle East, IDA Singapore.

  • Singapore shines at IDC 2016 Smart City Awards

    Singapore scored gold in IDC Asia/Pacific’s 2016 Smart City Asia Pacific Awards (Scapa). The island-state came up as the biggest winner in South-East Asia with three awards.

    The winning Singaporean projects were the Smart Yuhua Residential Estate under the Smart Buildings category; the Initiative to Develop Singapore as a Global Hydrohub in the Smart Water category; and The Next Generation National Trade Platform under the Economic Development Category.

  • Singapore tops Asian government tech awards

    At least four of the nine awards given to government information technology projects in Asia Pacific went to Singapore, organizers said Thursday.

    Singapore's Central Provident Fund (CPF) Board, the Accounting and Corporate Regulatory Authority (ACRA), the Inland Revenue Authority of Singapore (IRAS) and the National Healthcare Group bested other countries in four categories, namely service innovation, information management, technology leadership and business process.

  • South Korea Wins UN Award for Government Innovation

    The Ministry of Government Administration and Home Affairs has been selected as this year’s winner for the 2006 Public Service Awards (PSA) of the United Nations.

    The PSA awards, introduced in 2000 by the U.N. and managed by its Department for Economic and Social Affairs, recognizes the efforts by public organizations and agencies around the world in bettering transparency and accountability of public services and improving their delivery and responsiveness.

  • South Korea: Anti-Corruption Body Wins Best e-Gov’t Award in Sweden

    The Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission (ACRC) has won the top award conferred by the e-Challenges Conference and Exhibition to a helpful e-government systems.

    The award ceremony took place in Stockholm, Sweden, last Friday, a commission spokesman said Thursday.

  • South Korea: Seoul ranks 1st on e-gov't survey

    Seoul City ranked first on the 2010 Rutgers Global E-Governance Survey, securing the position for the fourth year in a row.

    The Rutgers survey is conducted by the E-Governance Institute, School of Public Affairs and Administration at Rutgers University-Newark, and the Global e-Policy e-Government Institute at Sungkyunkwan University and sponsored by the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs and the American Society for Public Administration.

    Suwon, South Korea recognized by Intelligent Community Forum for 1Gbps broadband network

    The Intelligent Community Forum (ICF) has named Suwon, South Korea, as the 2010 Intelligent Community of the Year. Suwon has built the world’s fastest, large municipal network, improving connection speeds from an already impressive 32M to 1Gbps. The infrastructure is being used to enhance education, library development, and e-government.

  • Sri Lanka wins awards at the FutureGov Summit 2012 in Thailand

    Sri Lanka won two prestigious awards at the FutureGov Summit 2012 awards ceremony held at the Shangri La hotel in Chiang Mai, Thailand, last week.

    The two awards bagged by Sri Lanka come respectively under the ‘eGovernment’ category and the ‘Public Sector Organisation of the Year’ category.

    The ‘eGovernment’ award was for the Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA), or Visa Online of the Sri Lankan Department of Immigration and Emigration. The ICT Agency of Sri Lanka (ICTA) played a major role in this award-winning project – ‘Visa Online’.

    New York City-based think tank Intelligent Community Forum has named Stockholm, Sweden, as the 2009 Intelligent Community of the Year. The annual gathering of global best-practices communities emphasized a "culture of use," not just access to broadband technology or "households passed" availability.

  • Three UAE organisations given outstanding e-services awards

    Dubai Police, Emirates airline and Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce and Industry were honoured for their outstanding e-services at a special awards ceremony in Ajman yesterday.

    His Highness Shaikh Humaid bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Ajman, Mervat M Tallawy, Under-Secretary-General of the UN, and Ali Bin Abdulla Al Hamrani, Director General of the Ajman Department of Municipality and Planning (ADMP), were present at the ceremony.

The Arab e-Content Awards recognize quality e-content and promote creativity and innovation in the development of new media applications in the Arab World.

  • UAE bags the Best Federal Portal award

    The federal portal of the UAE government (www.government.ae) has achieved the first place among the six GCC government portals at the second GCC eGovernment Conference and Award held in Kuwait.

    Various UAE government entities also bagged most of the GCC eGovernment Awards by achieving the first place in three out of the six categories of the Award.

    Other top achievers include Dubai Health Authority (DHA) which achieved first place for Best eContent and Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) which achieved first place in the Best eService category (G2C). Appreciation Awards were presented to Zakat Fund for Best public eService and the General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) for Best Portal in the Development Sector for its portal www.gcaa.gov.ae.

  • UAE: Abu Dhabi eGovernment Portal Wins GCC eGovernment Award

    The Abu Dhabi eGovernment Portal, www.abudhabi.ae, of the United Arab Emirates, has won the inaugural GCC eGovernment Award, which was received by His Excellency Rashed Lahej Al Mansoori, Director General of Abu Dhabi Systems and Information Centre, at the award ceremony held today at Al Bustan Hotel, Muscat.

    This award comes as a part of the 1st GCC eGovernment Conference organised by the Information Technology Authority, Sultanate of Oman from December 21 to 23.

  • UAE: ADSIC recognized with two prestigious WSA Arab e-Content Awards

    Abu Dhabi Systems & Information Center (ADSIC) has won two Arab e-Content Awards in the 2009 Regional World Summit Award (WSA) Competition. A ceremony was held during the opening session of Bahrain International e-Government Forum 2009, where the Abu Dhabi e-Government Portal (www.abudhabi.ae) was selected under the e-Government category while Jobs Abu Dhabi (jobs.abudhabi.ae) was selected under the e-Business category.
