    Saudi Arabia moved up nine notches in the United Nations E-Government Development Index (EGDI) in 2020. The Kingdom has improved its digital infrastructure index ranking, jumping 40 notches to the 27th globally.

    NSEAD, the leading international business school, and the World Economic Forum today released the 11th annual Global Information Technology Report. The Report examines the networked readiness of 142 developed and developing countries worldwide - accounting for over 98 percent of the world's GDP. The index measures how these markets leverage advances in information and communication technologies (ICT) to drive economic productivity and social development.

  • Saudi Arabia Tops Region, Climbs Global Digital Governance Rankings

    Saudi Arabia has made a major advancement in digital governance, rising 25 places in the UN E-Government Development Index 2024.

    It now ranks first regionally, second among G20 nations, and sixth globally, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.

    The achievement, announced at the LEAP25 conference, highlights the Kingdom’s rapid digital transformation.

  • Saudi cities rank high on IMD Arab Smart City Index 2023

    Four cities in Saudi Arabia - Riyadh, Makkah, Jeddah, and Madinah - have ranked high in the IMD Smart City Index (SCI) list for 2023, reported SPA.

    The Saudi capital maintained its position as the 3rd Arab city in the IMD Smart City Index (SCI) 2023, which saw for the first time the cities of Makkah, Jeddah, and Madinah included in the observatory, ranking 4th, 5th and 7th respectively.

  • Saudi Commission for Tourism and Antiquities one of the best among 10 e-government entities

    According to the e-government program (Yesser), the Saudi Commission for Tourism and Antiquities won a leading position among the top ten government agencies that apply e-governance practices.

    Dr. Abdul Aziz Bin Mohammed Al-Sheikh, acting vice president of support affairs, pointed out that out of more than 56 governmental authorities that were subjected to an intensive screening program to determine their success applying the practices of e-governance, SCTA ranked first with 83.19 percent (Full Achievement) - from the conceptual point to the provision of intended services.

    Im aktuellen IT-Ranking des World Economic Forums (WEF) belegt die Schweiz den fünften Platz. Der "Networked Readiness Index 2006-07" misst, inwieweit ein Land in der Lage ist, Chancen zu nutzen, die ICT bezüglich Wachstum und Wettbewerbsfähigkeit bietet. Der Index bewertet also nicht, inwiefern diese Chancen vom Staat genutzt werden. Denn gerade was E-Government betrifft, ist ja die Schweiz im Normalfall bei solchen Listen eher auf den hinteren Rängen anzutreffen.

  • Schweiz verkommt zum E-Government-Entwicklungsland

    Laut einer weltweiten Studie der amerikanischen Brown University liegt die Schweiz in Sachen E-Government leicht unter dem osteuropäischen Durchschnitt.

    Damit, dass die Schweiz in Sachen E-Government keinen Spitzenplatz belegt, hat man sich inzwischen abgefunden. Dass wir aber unter dem Durchschnitt der osteuropäischen Schwellenländer bewertet werden, sollte mehr als ein wenig zu denken geben. Die amerikanische Brown University hat für ihre E-Government-Rangliste 1935 Regierungs-Webseiten von 198 Staaten untersucht.

    Wissenschafter haben in einer aufwändigen Studie die offiziellen Internet-Auftritte aller Kantone getestet. Und eine Rangliste erstellt. Wie metzget sich Ihr Kanton?

    Die Schaffhauser haben es am besten. Wenn sie auf der Homepage ihres Kantons etwas suchen, werden sie am schnellsten fündig. In der Fachsprache der Studie, die alle 26 Webauftritte untersucht hat, heisst das: «Schaffhausen ist digital am nächsten beim Bürger.» In dieser Kategorie finden sich hinter den Nordschweizern Appenzell Ausserrhoden, Graubünden, Zug und Waadt.

Heute wurde die Studie in Bern den Medien vorgestellt.

    Stockholm has claimed the Smart City 2019 award for its GrowSmarter project at the Smart City Expo World Congress in Barcelona.

    The Swedish capital was commended for its ‘innovation, openness and connectivity’ and efforts to improve living conditions for residents.

  • Significant Slovenian progress in the field of e-government

    Slovenia has moved up on 2nd place among European states by the measurement of the European Commission.

    In the scope of 4th Ministerial conference on e-government which took place in Lisbon in the framework of Portuguese Presidency of the European Union (EU) in September 2007, the results of annual measurement of European Commission (EC) about development of e-services in the Member states of EU were announced. This year's results show the excellent progress of Slovenia, which moved up from 7nt to 2nd place since the year 2006. Slovenia shares the 2nd place with Malta. The 1sth place is kept by Austria.

    Country slips one place to fourth in Cloud Readiness Index 2012, despite topping scores for data sovereignty, e-government and ICT prioritization, and IP protection.

    Singapore has slipped to fourth place from third in the Cloud Readiness Index 2012, dragged down by below average scores in data privacy, and power grid and green policy.

    According to the report by Asia's Cloud Computing Association (ACCA) released Tuesday, the country scored the highest in areas such as data sovereignty, e-government and ICT prioritization, and intellectual property (IP) protection. It ranked second international connectivity and fourth for broadband quality.

    A global study of 34 nations saw the government here ranked highest on optimising productivity of ministries and departments through the use of infocomm technology. It was also singled out for 'big progress' on its government online portals.

    Singapore is the smartest city in the world for the third year running, according to this year's Smart City Index.

    Published by Swiss business school Institute of Management Development (IMD) and the Singapore University of Technology and Design last Thursday (Oct 28), the index ranks 118 cities by how "smart" they are.
