Half a million jobs are expected to be created in Saudi Arabia from nationwide digital transformation by 2020, experts commented today on a recent report by The Economist Corporate Network.

The Kingdom faces a crucial juncture in its economic growth and youth employment. Through 2025, the Kingdom will see 226,000 new entrants into the labour market per year, with the Saudi working age population reaching 17.9 million, according to the report, Shaping the Future of Work.

The Ministry of Labor and Social Development won e-Government Achievement Award (Enjaz) in the category of cooperation among government entities for offering better services, which is given by e-Government Program (Yesser).

The 4th edition of the Enjaz Award took place at the Headquarters of the Communications and Information Technology Commission (CITC) in Riyadh.

Saudi Arabia maintains its third position in the global ranking for ease of tax payment, the latest release of the Paying Taxes report by The World Bank and PwC said.

With the least demanding tax framework, well below the world average, the Kingdom has a total tax rate of 15.0%, an average number of three payments and an average time to comply of 64 hours. The report analyzed the same factors in 189 countries, with global averages of 40.8% total tax rate, 25.6 number of payments, and 261 hours for time to comply.

Saudi Arabia is likely to be ranked among the five top countries in e-governance by 2030 because of the changes currently being put in place by the government.

This is according to Ibrahim Al-Baez, former media professor at King Saud University, who said that the UN's 2014 report on e-government services around the world has seen the Kingdom ranked at 36 out of 193 countries surveyed, according to a report in a local publication recently.

Telecom companies in the Kingdom have surprised their international counterparts by making good profits after offering poor quality Internet services at higher rates. One foreign company sent its representatives to a Saudi telecom company office to have a special course on this matter.

Customers can easily understand they are cheated when they check the speed of their Internet connection, which will be much less than what they are charged for. In the neighboring GCC countries people can enjoy fast Internet services at comparatively lower rates.
