  • AE: DEWA website receives Arab e-Government Excellence award

    Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has won the Arab e-Government Excellence Award for technical innovation for its website in the category of official and governmental organisations in the UAE, by the Arab Organisation for Social Responsibility and the Pan-Arab Web Awards Academy".

    "The Award reflects our commitment to the directives of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to enhance the quality and level of services provided to customers and achieve customer satisfaction by providing them with services anywhere and anytime," said HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA.

  • AE: Dubai Customs claims GCC eGovernment Award

    Dubai Customs has earned the 2015 GCC eGovernment Award in the category ‘Best Government Service for Business Sector’. The award was claimed by DC’s latest B2G (Business to Government) integrated channel – an in-house developed electronic service created to reinforce customs facilitations for business.

    Ahmed Mahboob Musabih, Director of Dubai Customs, was presented with the award by H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Khalifa, Deputy Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Bahrain, at the opening of the 4th GCC eGovernment Conference & Exhibition, which recently took place in Manama under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Bahrain, in presence of VIPs and senior officials from across the GCC.

  • AE: Dubai eGovernment wins two awards for best mobile app and best ePay portal

    Dubai eGovernment has won two awards for its mDubai mobile app and for its ePay gateway adding yet another milestone to its record of achievements. The winners were honoured in a ceremony organized by Terrapin at Cards & Payments Middle East 2013 and The Mobile Show 2013 recently. Both awards were received by Sumaia Bin Hammad, Director of Communication and Business Development (CBD) on behalf of Dubai eGovernment.

    Commenting on the dual awards for Dubai eGovernment, Ahmad Bin Humaidan, Director-General, Dubai eGovernment said: "I congratulate the eServices team for receiving this double honour, which is in line with the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai for enabling the public to complete their government transactions in one place through a one-mobile stop shop. Such awards clearly indicate our favourable pace of eTransformation in Dubai as traditional government services shift towards eServices, particularly on mobile phones."

  • AE: Dubai Municipality bags e-Government award

    The Dubai Municipality has won the Arab e-Government Award in the category of innovative design among the websites of municipalities.

    Hussain Nasser Lootah, Director-General at the municipality, received the award for the civic body during a ceremony which was held recently at Burj Al Arab which was attended by a number of organisations and diplomats. While speaking after receiving the honour, Lootah emphasised on the vigorous endeavours of the civic body in pursuit of winning awards for excellence and leadership in various areas.

    Dubai Trade, the premier cross-border trade facilitator under Dubai World , has announced its commencement of finalizing the winners' list for the 6th E-Services Excellence Award (ESEA) after closing the competition by the last day of 2013. The winners of this prominent award will be announced and rewarded in a high-profile ceremony that will be held in February 2014 under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Maktoum Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, and with the presence of Senior Government Officials and private sectors as well as Senior Management of Dubai World . The event will be taking place at the Ritz Carlton Hotel, DIFC in Dubai.

  • AE: Dubai: RTA bags GovTech Innovation Award in Smart City category

    Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has won the GovTech Innovation Award 2021, thanks to a submission by the Enterprise Command and Control Centre (EC3) in the Smart City Initiative of the Year category of the awards.

    These awards are granted by Gov Tech, a specialist in granting technical awards for government, semi-government entities and private companies, said an RTA press release on Tuesday.

  • AE: DubaiSmart Government wins UN Public Service Award

    DubaiSmart Government (DSG) Department won an international award at the UnitedNations Public Service Awards 2013 in the category of 'PromotingWhole-of-Government Approaches in the Information Age' for the Western Asiaregion. This international recognition of excellence in public service waspresented to Dubai Smart Government by Wu Hongbo, Under-Secretary General forEconomic & Social Affairs at the United Nations (UN).

    The award was received by a teamfrom the Communication and Business Development Department at a specialceremony in Bahrain on 23 June 2013, also known as United Nations PublicService Day. Previously, the team made a presentation to the visitors of theexhibition held on the sidelines of the ceremony which focused on theelectronic shared services (ESS) and smart phone applications provided by DSGto government entities in addition to the official portal of the Government of Dubai (dubai.ae), which offers eServices to Dubai government entities in oneplace.

  • AE: Emirates eGovernment receives 20 applications for the GCC eGovernment Awards in Kuwait

    Emirates eGovernment announced on Tuesday that it has received 20 applications from various federal and local government entities in the UAE to participate in the GCC eGovernment Awards to be held in Kuwait later this year. Last month, Emirates eGovernment asked federal and local government entities in the UAE to take part in the Award and send their participations to Emirates eGovernemnt which is responsible for receiving nominations and handle registration-related procedures in the UAE. Winning projects will be announced during the second GCC eGovernment conference which will be held in Kuwait from 13th to 15th November 2011.

    So far, 20 entities in the UAE have sent their applications in the five categories of the Award which are: best eService, best eContent, best federal portal, best portal in development sector, and best G2G project. More entities are expected to send in their applications in the next few days.

    Achievement consolidates Abu Dhabi's leading position in global ICT arena

    ICDL GCC Foundation, an organization that promotes digital skills and cyber safety across the Gulf region and Iraq, has extended its greetings of congratulations to the Government of Abu Dhabi's Systems and Information Centre (ADSIC) for winning first place in the 'Best Application of Information Technology (IT) and e-Learning' category of the recently concluded World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) Conference in Geneva, Switzerland. The award was given in recognition of ADSIC's successful implementation of the emirate's 'e-Citizen' program--an initiative that aims to position Abu Dhabi as one of the best governments in the world. The 'e-Citizen' program falls in line with the vision of His Highness (H.H.) Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of UAE and with the directions of His Highness (H.H.) Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces and Chairman of the Executive Council of Abu Dhabi. Jamil Ezzo, Director General of ICDL GCC Foundation, relayed his greetings to ADSIC and lauded them for their win, which consolidates Abu Dhabi's leading position in the global ICT arena.

  • AE: MoI Receives Best Government Interoperable Service Award

    As part of the 3rd GCC e-Government Award, the Ministry of Interior has received the Best Government Interoperable Service. H.H Sheikh Majid bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Culture and Arts Authority, handed the award to Major General Dr. Ahmed Nasser Al Raisi, Director General of Central Operations at Abu Dhabi Police during a ceremony, held on Monday at the Intercontinental Festival City Hotel in Dubai, to honor the winners of the 3rd GCC e-Government Award Conference and Exhibition.

    In his address at the award ceremony, Major General Al Raisi stated: "The Best Government Interoperable Service Award received by the UAE, represented by the Ministry of Interior, has been achieved thanks to the considerable support of our Higher Leadership. It also follows the higher leadership's wise instructions on the need for hard and distinguished work, to offer the best and finest services to the public, at all times and in an innovative manner, as per its leading smart government initiative," he said.

  • AE: MoI Wins 'Best Government Practice in Community e-Participation' Award

    The UAE Ministry of Interior , represented by the Security Support Department, at the General Secretariat of the Office of H.H Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, won the Wins 'Best Government Practice in Community e-Participation' Award within the fourth GCC e-Government Award hosted by the Kingdom of Bahrain.

    Sheikh Mohamed bin Mubarak Al Khalifa, Deputy Prime Minister of Bahrain, presented the award to Lieutenant Colonel Faisal Mohammed Al Shimmari, Director of the E- Auditing Department, and Major Fawaz Ali Abdullah, Director of the Security Media Department at the General Secretariat of the Office of H.H Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior.

  • AE: Sharjah DeG wins excellence award for Arab Government Achievements

    The Sharjah Department of e-Government, DeG, is celebrating winning a major government award for the quality of its services.

    The department, which works to enhance connectivity in Sharjah and to create preparations for a transition to a digitally integrated society, was given the 'Excellence Award' for Arab Government Achievement' for its successful efforts in implementing the 'Zajel' electronic correspondence across government departments in the emirate.

  • Another first for Bahrain!

    Bahrain has become the first country in the Middle East to win an International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO) certification in the e-Government sector.

    The e-Government Authority (EGA) has been awarded the Information Security Certification - the international standard for protecting the confidentiality, integrity and availability of data.

    EGA successfully developed services that provide support for citizens, residents and businesses through its website and mobile phone portals, e-kiosks and e-service centres.

  • AU: New South Wales: St John's app winner smart way to help in emergencies

    St John Ambulance NSW will launch a smartphone phone app it believes will save lives.

    The app, called "Responder App", was the winner of the App Aid competition, against the apps of nine other leading charities, today.

    The app was designed to provide St John volunteers with immediate access to information including tips, checklists and patient treatment guides to help in emergency treatment.

  • AU: E-Government plugs into ICT awards

    Finalists in the 2012 Australian Government ICT (Information and Communications Technology) Awards have been announced by the Special Minister of State, Gary Gray.

    Mr Gray said it was always good to get a positive response to the call for nominations and this year 56 had been received across the three Award programs: 2012 Excellence in eGovernment Awards, ICT Professional of the Year Award and the Government 2.0 Innovator Award.

    He said that among the finalists was the Bureau of Meteorology, with both its Australian Hydrological Geospatial Fabric and Next Generation Forecast and Warning System Project progressing to the next round of judging in the Excellence in eGovernment Awards’ Geospatial category.

  • AU: MoneySmart website right on the money

    The Australian Securities and Investments Commission’s personal finance website, MoneySmart, has been named best Service Delivery website at the 2012 Excellence in eGovernment Awards.

    The awards recognise excellence, innovation and professionalism in the use of information and communications technology and nominations came from all spheres of government across Australia.

    Senior Manager of MoneySmart, Robert Drake said the award was a fantastic acknowledgement of ASIC’s unique approach to helping the community with money matters.

  • Australia: Finalists plug into e-Government awards

    The Department of Finance has announced the finalists in its Excellence in e-Government Award.

    The Government introduced the e-Award in 2006 to promote excellence in the use of ICT at all levels of Government.

    The projects nominated for the finals this year came from The Australian Bureau of Statistics; the Australian Taxation Office; the Child Support Agency; the Department of Employment, Education and Workplace Relations; the Department of Immigration and Citizenship; Intellectual Property Australia; Queensland’s Tablelands Regional Council; and the Victorian Department of Planning and Community Development.

  • Australia: Prime Minister announces more Digital Regions winners

    A further $6.4 million to help regional communities across Australia

    Prime Minister Kevin Rudd has announced four additional winning projects as part of the government's Digital Regions Initiative.

    In a statement the Federal Government said it will spend $1.79 million on new medical record, administration and e-learning systems at 190 ambulance stations across New South Wales while the South Australian Digital Telehealth Network will receive $2.48 million to enhance its in-patient care and distance consultation services including 24 hour triage and liaison services.
