  • SA: Kingdom in top 40 of Network Readiness Index

    The Gulf countries continue to feature prominently in this year’s Networked Readiness Index Ranking (NRI), with five in the top 40.

    Bahrain (#27) ranked first, followed by Qatar (#28), United Arab Emirates (#30), Saudi Arabia (#34) and Oman (#40). This reflects the information technology sector’s increasing prominence in national agendas as a crucial instrument for global competitiveness, economic diversification, enhanced efficiency, and modernization.

    In the 11th annual Global Information Technology Report released Friday by INSEAD, the leading international business school, and the World Economic Forum released the 11th annual Global Information Technology Report, it said four Nordic countries are among the 10 most successful at leveraging ICT in their competitiveness strategies, with Sweden topping the list at #1. Singapore is in the #2 position. Other countries in the top ten are: Finland, Denmark, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Norway, the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom.

  • SA: Kingdom ranks 41st in UN e-govt index

    Saudi Arabia is ranked 41st globally in the UN e-Government Readiness Index 2012 and has improved to third spot among Arab countries, according to Al-Riyadh daily.

    The Kingdom’s rank improved by 17 places compared to UN e-government index in 2010.

    The GCC countries achieved good positions in this report that dealt with some 193 world countries based on the readiness of e-government in those countries.

  • Saudi Arabia Becomes E-Government “Emerging Leader”

    In the “E-Government Survey 2012” report recently released by the United Nations’ Department of Economic and Social Affairs, Saudi Arabia has been ranked 41st out of 193 countries relating to the level of its e-government infrastructure development. Saudi Arabia advanced 17 positions from its rank of 58th in 2010. The report is released every two years and determines the ranking of countries based on online services available, telecommunications infrastructure, and human capital.

    Due to Saudi Arabia’s large jump from 58 to 41, it is now among the top 25 emerging e-government leaders. In addition, it is highlighted as one of the countries that made the most progress over the past two years. The top five countries in the 2012 e-government development index are South Korea, the Netherlands, the U.K., Denmark, and the U.S.

  • Saudi Arabia leader nation in e-readiness: U.N. report

    Saudi Arabia has joined Egypt, Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates in the elite club of 21 nations holding crucial components of e-readiness for effective e-government and various e-services in public and private sectors, according to U.N. study released in Riyadh on Thursday.

  • Saudi Arabia ranks in top quarter (34th) of Network Readiness Index

    Government performance remains strong, while challenges remain to address developing higher levels of competition to reduce costs of communications

    NSEAD, the leading international business school, and the World Economic Forum today released the 11th annual Global Information Technology Report. The Report examines the networked readiness of 142 developed and developing countries worldwide - accounting for over 98 percent of the world's GDP. The index measures how these markets leverage advances in information and communication technologies (ICT) to drive economic productivity and social development.

  • Saudi Commission for Tourism and Antiquities one of the best among 10 e-government entities

    According to the e-government program (Yesser), the Saudi Commission for Tourism and Antiquities won a leading position among the top ten government agencies that apply e-governance practices.

    Dr. Abdul Aziz Bin Mohammed Al-Sheikh, acting vice president of support affairs, pointed out that out of more than 56 governmental authorities that were subjected to an intensive screening program to determine their success applying the practices of e-governance, SCTA ranked first with 83.19 percent (Full Achievement) - from the conceptual point to the provision of intended services.

  • Schweiz verbessert sich im IT-Ranking des WEF

    Im aktuellen IT-Ranking des World Economic Forums (WEF) belegt die Schweiz den fünften Platz. Der "Networked Readiness Index 2006-07" misst, inwieweit ein Land in der Lage ist, Chancen zu nutzen, die ICT bezüglich Wachstum und Wettbewerbsfähigkeit bietet. Der Index bewertet also nicht, inwiefern diese Chancen vom Staat genutzt werden. Denn gerade was E-Government betrifft, ist ja die Schweiz im Normalfall bei solchen Listen eher auf den hinteren Rängen anzutreffen.

    Wissenschafter haben in einer aufwändigen Studie die offiziellen Internet-Auftritte aller Kantone getestet. Und eine Rangliste erstellt. Wie metzget sich Ihr Kanton?

    Die Schaffhauser haben es am besten. Wenn sie auf der Homepage ihres Kantons etwas suchen, werden sie am schnellsten fündig. In der Fachsprache der Studie, die alle 26 Webauftritte untersucht hat, heisst das: «Schaffhausen ist digital am nächsten beim Bürger.» In dieser Kategorie finden sich hinter den Nordschweizern Appenzell Ausserrhoden, Graubünden, Zug und Waadt.

    Der eGovernment-Verein eCH hat alle 26 Schweizer Kantonswebsites analysieren lassen. Im Durchschnitt erhalten sie die Note «genügend bis gut».

    Bereits zum vierten Mal hat ein Berner Institut die Internetauftritte der Kantone getestet. Resultat: Punkto Bürgernähe schneiden Schaffhausen, Appenzell Ausserrhoden und Graubünden am besten ab.

    Das private Berner Institut für angewandte Argumentenforschung (IFAA) unter der Leitung des Politologen Christoph Glauser führte die wissenschaftliche und computergestützte ArgYou-Studie im Auftrag der Kantone durch, wie es in einer Medienmitteilung heisst. Heute wurde die Studie in Bern den Medien vorgestellt.

    Eine vom Verein E-CH für E-Government-Standards durchgeführte computergestützte Inhaltsanalyse aller 26 kantonalen Websites ergab genügende bis gute Noten für deren Internetpräsenzen. Analysiert wurden die angebotenen Themen und Dienstleistungen sowie die Übereinstimmung von Angebot und Nachfrage.

In Wohlen AG ist der Online-Adresswechsel hingegen problemlos möglich. Nicht zuletzt deshalb wird die Gemeinde kommenden Dienstag mit dem «Eugen» ausgezeichnet. Dieser Preis – seit 5 Jahren von der Berner Bedag Informatik verliehen – nimmt das E-Government-Angebot von rund 2100 Websites von Gemeinden, Kantonen und Bundesämtern unter die Lupe.

  • Significant Slovenian progress in the field of e-government

    Slovenia has moved up on 2nd place among European states by the measurement of the European Commission.

    In the scope of 4th Ministerial conference on e-government which took place in Lisbon in the framework of Portuguese Presidency of the European Union (EU) in September 2007, the results of annual measurement of European Commission (EC) about development of e-services in the Member states of EU were announced. This year's results show the excellent progress of Slovenia, which moved up from 7nt to 2nd place since the year 2006. Slovenia shares the 2nd place with Malta. The 1sth place is kept by Austria.

  • Singapore is top in e-govt

    Singapore has topped a list of more than 30 countries in e-government initiatives.

    A global study of 34 nations saw the government here ranked highest on optimising productivity of ministries and departments through the use of infocomm technology. It was also singled out for 'big progress' on its government online portals.

  • Singapore tops ‘networked city’ list; Manila in 21st spot

    The progressive city-estate of Singapore has topped Networked Society City Index, an annual survey of cities around the world that measures the benefits of ICT to society.

    Singapore was followed by Stockholm, with Seoul completing the top three. Manila was at the bottom rung of the list in 21st place, below neighboring Jakarta which was at the 19th spot.

  • Singapore tops Accenture's study on e-government

    It pips nine other sample countries in effectiveness of digital applications

    Singapore has taken the pole position among the 10 countries in Accenture's new study on how governments use digital applications to engage citizens.

    The study, "Digital Government Pathways to Delivering Public Services for the Future", measured the effectiveness of 10 sample countries in various digital applications from offering online portals to access public services as well as employing digital channels and social media to communicate and engage with citizens.
