  • AE: Dubai egovt generates US$4.62 billion in 2011 thus far

    Within the first half of 2011, Dubai’s ePay payment gateway has generated AED 1.7 billion (US $4.62 billion) through 1.396 million transactions. Compared to 2010’s revenue, the money generated these six months is a 55 per cent increase.

    The new figures compare to a total of AED 1.1 billion through 835,095 transactions in the first half of 2010. As an enabler of customers to pay for their bills and government service electronically, ePay is a payment service provided by the Dubai eGovernment on their website, www.dubai.ae, and allows electronic payment trhough credit or debit cards.

    To continue world-class customer service delivery across the Emirate

    In line with the strategic vision of Dubai and the mission of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) to meeting customer satisfaction and promoting Dubai's vision through delivery of electricity and water services at a world-class level to Dubai customers, DEWA has launched an upgraded and advanced Intelligent Voice Response System (IVR) tailor-made to meet the diverse requirements of customer queries, including emergency and technical assistance and Customer Care Services and procedures such as registration, billing, and payment.

    Launched on March 25th, the new IVR system serves over 26 different options to customer in the sub menu with special attention given to emergency and technical queries. Via using the IVR system customers requiring Emergency and Technical support can check their disconnection status and outstanding payments, register an Emergency and Technical complaint and follow-up on a registered complaint through the audible Voice Recording System.

  • AE: Dubai Electricity and Water Authority launches direct debit payment service with Lloyd's TSB

    As part of its relentless pursuit to provide efficient and quality electronic services to achieve customer's satisfaction, Dubai Electricity and Water Authority has launched the direct debit payment service with Lloyds' TSB's customers. This service enables DEWA's customers to pay through the banks' electronic channels, and allows the automatic transfer of funds to the customers' accounts at DEWA, and thus serves to immediately update their accounts.

    "Applying such e-services is in line with the directives of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to promote Dubai's pioneering role in the region as a hub for state-of-the-art technologies," said HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD and CEO of DEWA.

    Dubai, a city state within the United Arab Emirates, is rapidly becoming a hub for innovative delivery solutions, with several initiatives launched in the past year to utilize autonomous robots for food delivery services.

    These projects align with Dubai’s Smart City vision and its goal to have 25 percent of all transportation be autonomous by 2030.

    Dubai eGovernment said a total of Dh3.83 billion ($1.03 billion) had been collected through its ePay payment gateway, a portal for customers in the emirate to electronically pay for various government services.

    The ePay gateway forms part of Dubai eGovernment’s initiative to deliver government services through innovative channels with the aim of easing government transactions for businesses and the general public in Dubai.

  • AE: Dubai Government job portal eJob sees 36% increase in applications

    Job applications submitted through the Dubai Government job portal (eJob) have risen by 36 per cent, according to official statistics revealed by the Dubai eGovernment Department (DeG).

    This coincides with the successful awareness campaign launched by the department in May, during its participation in Careers UAE 2013 and the new updates to the portal.

    The eJob website provides a fully electronic portal for dealing with job applications starting with the department’s vacancies, to submission of applications, posting of resumes, management of interviews, sending job offers, tracking applications, receiving correspondence, fixing dates for personal interviews and finally selecting eligible candidates.

  • AE: Dubai Government to Launch Real Estate E-mart

    The Dubai Land Department (LD) has announced its participation in the forthcoming GITEX information technology exhibition, which takes place during October 20-24th at the Dubai World Trade Centre. The government body, which has just played a prominent role at the recently concluded Cityscape Global 2013, will be showcasing its latest smart e-systems that have been designed to revolutionise its services and promote further investment in Dubai’s real estate sector.

    Throughout GITEX 2013 – the 33rd edition of the region’s largest information technology show – LD will be presenting its package of smart solutions, revamped website, applications and e-services to potential investors, with experts on hand to answer any queries and explain the benefits of the various programmes. The department says that it is using the exhibition’s platform to enhance its customer services through promoting e-transformation, which involves putting the customer at the centre of e-services.

  • AE: Dubai Government's eTransformation Strategy put under the microscope

    Dubai eGovernment (DeG) Department recently concluded its third eTransformation Forum themed "Together towards Leadership" as part of its efforts to push the wheel of eTransformation forward towards an integrated, digital and knowledge-based society. The Forum mainly focused on Dubai Government's eTransformation strategy presented by the Department and aimed at boosting Dubai's transition into a creative knowledge-based city in the 21st century.

    The event was attended by around 150 leading figures from Dubai government entities, including directors general, executives and IT, human resources and strategic planning directors. A large number of these leading figures concerned with formulating and implementing the eTransformation strategy participated in the discussions of the forum.

  • AE: Dubai Government's Information Security Committee holds first meeting

    Dubai Government's Information Security Committee has held its first meeting at HH Dubai Ruler's Court to review information security in Dubai Government as per Resolution No. 13 of 2012 passed by Dubai Executive Council.

    The meeting was presided over by H.E. Ahmad Bin Humaidan, Deputy Director of Dubai Ruler's Court and Director General of Dubai eGovernment; and was attended by the other committee members: Brigadier Hamad Obaid Al Mansouri, Colonel Yousef Hamad Al Sheibani, Major Rashid Ahmed Lootah, Mr. Marwan Salem Bin Haidar, Mr. Mohammed Ali Al Awadhi, Mr. Hamed Abdul Ghafoor Al Awadhi, Mrs. Mira Sultan Obaid and Mr. Ayoub Ali Al Ali.

  • AE: Dubai govt bodies ink e-Services tie-up

    Dubai Smart Government (DSG) and Dubai Department of Economic Development (DED) signed an agreement today (July 8), under which DSG will provide support services for DED’s electronic shared services.

    The agreement was signed by Ahmed Bin Humaidan, director general of Dubai Smart Government, and Sami Dhaen Al Qamzi, DED director general.

    The agreement is aimed at upgrading Dubai government services and ensuring optimal use of DSG’s government resources for the electronic services used by the DED.

    The Dubai Government First Information Security Forum successfully concluded at Inter-continental Hotel with attendance from around 80 Dubai government entities. The Forum was organized by the Information Security Committee (ISC), which is tasked with managing information security at Dubai Government, in collaboration with Dubai eGovernment.

    The Forum focused on reviewing Dubai Government's Information Security Regulation (ISR), which was recently approved by the ISC in Arabic and English.

  • AE: Dubai Health Authority launches second phase of e-claims for Enaya Health Insurance

    The Dubai health authority announced the start of the second phase of e-claims for Enaya Health Insurance. Enaya is the name of the health insurance for all Government of Dubai Employees.

    The electronic project, which is in line with the e-government strategy, will benefit 1,00,000 government employees and the aim of the project is to standardize and automate all health insurance claims in the Emirate before the end of the year creating a solid infrastructure for health insurance in the Emirate of Dubai.

  • AE: Dubai hospitals 'e-model in infancy stage'

    About 70 per cent of hospitals in Dubai are in the beginning stages of adopting an electronic model, according to a survey conducted by the Dubai Health Authority in co-ordiantion with Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS).

    The in-depth survey, which was carried out for the first time in the Middle East region, was aimed at determining the electronic efficiency of hospitals in Dubai, said a DHA statement.

    The duo surveyed 21 private and four public hospitals in Dubai to determine to what extent hospitals use digital technology and whether they have a paperless environment.

    E-gates to be set up in anticipation of a flood of 90 million in 2 years

    Anticipating a flood of around 90 million visitors in another two years, the Dubai immigration authorities are adopting bold technology-intensive measures to successfully manage the rush.

    In a recent interaction with the media, Khalid Nasser Al Razooqi, Director-General of the Immigration Department's e-services sector, said a pilot project to establish “smart electronic gates” at the airport was being undertaken on a war footing. “Once it is validated, the e-gate will enable a passenger to clear immigration in 14 seconds flat,” he claimed. Officials in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) said a sharp escalation in passenger inflow was expected once a dedicated terminal for the giant A380 aircraft was completed in 2013.

  • AE: Dubai immigration to set up “smart electronic gates”

    Immigration Department E-services Director General, Khalid Nasser Al Razooqi, announced plans to establish “smart electronic gates” in preparation for a sharp escalation in passenger inflow in two years.

    The e-gates will have a passport reader to instantly check from the existing database on whether the entry of the passenger was legal; with a pre-installed camera to verify the passenger’s identity by matching his image against the photograph on the passport.
