  • UAE: RAK government launches e-services portal

    Shaikh Saud Bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah, on Monday inaugurated an e-government conference titled Ras Al Khaimah -The Future organised by the RAK e-Government Authority (RAK- EGA).

    The conference saw the official launch of RAK Government's new e-services portal, www.rak.ae, offering around 30 government-related services online.

  • UAE: RAK to set up Enterprise Business Platform (EBP) connecting all Government departments

    The Ras Al Khaimah Electronic GovernmentAuthority (RAK-EGA) has signed an agreement with US based B2 Technology and Consulting Services, Inc. (B2TeCS) to implement aninternet enabled e-communications platform in all the government departments in Ras Al Khaimah.

    The advanced Enterprise Business Platform (EBP), to be set up at a cost of AED 5 million, aims to create an efficient communication and information sharing mechanism within and between all government departments in the Emirate.

  • UAE: RAK, Protechnology in magazine tieup

    The Ras Al Khaimah eGovernment Authority (EGA) has inked a deal with Protechnology, a leading provider of broadcast, communication, security and storage solutions, to launch a magazine, to be accessible through RAK Government’s website.

    The journal, which will be available in English and Arabic on www.rak.ae, is part of an initiative to raise public awareness regarding eServices and to facilitate the complete shift towards digital governance in the emirate.

    The project follows Protechnology’s prior success and partnership with Dubai eGovernment and their magazine - ‘e for all’.

  • UAE: Rapid PC penetration will boost e-Governance in the Arab world

    PC penetration in the Arab world is poised to record a rapid increase within the next few years, with many of the countries crossing penetration levels of 20 per cent. This augurs well for the various e-governance projects launched by the different governments in the Arab countries, according to Salem Al Shair, Director eServices, Dubai eGovernment. Al Shair was delivering the keynote address at the recently held "Regional Workshop on e-Government" organized by the UN Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) in association with United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, Yemen, at Technology City, Sana'a. The workshop was under the auspices of the Prime Minister of Yemen, H.E. Abdelkader BaJamal, who is also the Chairman of the ICT Executive Committee.
  • UAE: Ras Al Khaimah eGovernment studies Dubai’s experience in digital transformation

    Dubai eGovernment has announced that a high-level delegation from Ras Al Khaimah e- Government Authority (RAK- eGA) recently visited Dubai to closely study the emirate’s eServices system, especially with regard to the provision of eServices to the members of the public dealing with government departments.

    During the visit, the RAK- eGA team was shown a detailed presentation on Dubai eGovernment, its history, its 2,000 plus eServices, and the various systems and processes, technology and quality standards that have been adopted by Dubai eGovernment, which have made it one of the most advanced electronic governance set ups in the Middle East. The meeting also facilitated the sharing of best practices, knowledge and ideas between the parties.

  • UAE: Roads & Transport Authority achieves ISO certification in information Security

    The Roads & Transport Authority (RTA) has achieved the prestigious ISO 27001 certification in Information Security Management Systems; the highest internationally accredited certification for Information Security.

    The Certificate has been received by H.E. Mattar Al Tayer, Chairman of the Board and Executive Director of the RTA, from Brian Baxter, Manager of Lloyd's Register Quality Assurance Ltd (LRQA); which has carried out the assessment of RTA Information Security Systems. The Award was made in the presence of Abdullah Al Madani, CEO of RTA Corporate Technical Support Services, and Abdullah Al Bastaki, Director of RTA Information Technology, in addition to Premchand Kurup, CEO of Paramount Computer Systems Co.

  • UAE: Roads & Transport Authority concludes the mParking project spanning all Dubai districts

    Engineer Maitha bin Udai, CEO of Traffic & Roads Agency at Roads & Transport Authority (RTA), revealed that using the mobile phone for paying parking fees service (mParking) was rising steadily in the Emirate of Dubai as the monthly average of using the service has reached 350k virtual parking permits, and the number of subscribers to the system hit 14k subscribers by the end of 2009.

    "Introduction of this service comes in the context of RTA strategy to provide integrated solutions of systems and services that facilitate the use of roads and parking in a way that keeps pace with the sweeping development plans witnessed by Dubai Emirate and measures up to world-class standards applicable in this regard" said Maitha.

  • UAE: Roads and Transport Authority portal to allocate number plates online

    Prices range between Dh1,000 and Dh3,000 plus fees

    The Licensing Agency, Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), in Dubai has,kicked off a new e-service enabling allocation of number plates to customers at a nominal value through the RTA portal.

    Mohammed Abdul Kareem Nimaat, Director of Vehicles Licensing Department, said: “This service is intended to upgrade the level of e-services on offer and facilitate the procedures for customers as the process of selecting number plates used to be made only through Customer Service Centre counters spread across the Emirate, or through RTA's strategic partners. In the past customers could have faced difficulties in reviewing all numbers on offer or selecting the suitable numbers due to time factor and huge number of visitors in these centres. This new e-service will contribute effectively and positively in offering customers ample opportunity for selecting suitable numbers without waiting."

    Raft of online services to be unveiled during the upcoming Gitex

    Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) is set for the launch of a new package of innovative services during Gitex 2010.

    The CEO of RTA Corporate Technical Support Services Sector Abdullah Al Madani pointed to some of the key new electronic services on offer relating to licensing sector such as the online renewal of the driving licence, online renewal of vehicle registration, electronic scheduling of driving tests, online payment of fines, electronic eye testing, online allocation of distinguished numbers plates, and online open distinguished number plate auctions.

    The Vehicles Licensing Department, Licensing Agency of Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), said it will activate the e-service of issuing various certificates through the RTA portal (www.rta.ae) from October 24.

    According to Abdul Kareem Nimaat, Director of Vehicles Licensing, RTA Licensing Agency, the new e-service includes issuing vehicle ownership certificate, vehicle non-ownership certificate and the number of vehicles owned certificate.

    ePay, mDubai and AskDubai to improve access to department’s information and services

    Dubai eGovernment has recently announced that it is coordinating in strategic planning with the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) regarding the provision and implementation of the ePay, mDubai and AskDubai services. The move will see the RTA adopt these services within the next few months which are mainly directed at improving access to the department’s information and services.

    The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has announced around 20 new services to its customers.

    These include those from the suggestion scheme 'Fikraty', complaints system, Customers' Council, Emergency Office, Call Center in addition to the automated response system (IVR) and the services of the Traffic and Roads Agency, Marine Agency and Public Transport.

  • UAE: RTA Establishes Salik Customer Service Center At Its Head Office

    Roads & Transport Authority (RTA) announced the establishment of Salik Customer Service Center within the premises of Traffic & Roads Agency at RTA Head Office, Umm Ramool, thereby making a new addition to its illustrious package of services on offer to customers and the whole public.

    Maitha bin Adai, CEO of RTA Traffic & Roads Agency, said: “Salik Customer Service Center, which is the latest addition to RTA customer service outlets, aims to boost customer relations, facilitate customer interaction, finalize procedures related toll gate services, sort out issues and respond to inquiries in a short time. RTA decision to establish this Center aims to respond to the public needs following the sustained increase in the number of Salik users hailing from all UAE cities”.

  • UAE: RTA extends online services

    Customer Service Centers, a Corporate Support Services Sector of Roads & Transport Authority (RTA), unleashed an initiative to enlighten the users of RTA online services at the Main Customer Service Center of the E-Day Program.

    Laila Hareb, Director of Customer Service Centers Department stated that this program is an addition to the programs undertaken by the RTA aiming at upgrading the online services and efficient interaction with clients with the least possible effort.

  • UAE: RTA Inaugurates Online Taxi Booking Service

    RTA’s Public Transport Agency; which oversees taxi sector in Dubai Emirate, has recently launched Online Taxi Booking service, known as e-Taxi. RTA offers this service to the residents and visitors of Dubai as it is vitally important during events that warrant prior arrangements to be made by hotels, businesses and organizations in certain occasions such as Dubai Shopping Festival. Through this service, the customer can book the required taxicab well in advance to ensure timely arrival at the required destination.
