  • UAE: RTA launches Salik violation management online service

    Roads & Transport Authority (RTA) has recently launched an online service to manage the violations made to the toll gate systems (Salik) directly on the website of Salik.

    This will enable users obtain information about violations made by their vehicles, and raise possible objections to the offences reported should they have some reservations, and follow-up the process till clear-cut replies and satisfactory solutions are concluded to their objections.

    RTA becomes the second organization to get such certification in Dubai, fifth across the UAE

    The Roads & Transport Authority (RTA) in Dubai has recently obtained ISO 2000 certification for the quality standards of the IT services offered, in recognition of RTA efforts in applying the best practices and standards provided for in the IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL) standards. Thus RTA has become only the second Government Department at Dubai Government level, and the fifth across the UAE to obtain this certification.

    H.E. Mattar Al Tayer, Chairman of the Board and Executive Director of the RTA, received the Certificate from the CEO of RTA Corporate Technical Support Services Sector Abdullah Al Madani and the Director of RTA IT Department Abdullah Al Bastaki.

  • UAE: RTA Offers Scratch Cards to Top-up Salik Account

    Roads & Transport Authority (RTA) developed a new system of toll gate (Salik) cards enabling users to top-up their accounts by means of scratch cards offered at denominations of 50, 100 and 200 dirhams; which are the most popular categories. The system will be operational as of today and clients can obtain these cards from the approved sales outlets, thus adding to the diverse channels opened to make the service easily accessible to clients.

  • UAE: RTA receives 1492 e-transactions for renewal of driving licenses and vehicle registration

    Licensing Agency at Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has processed 1344 online transactions through RTA website, related to renewal of driving licenses and renewal of vehicle registration during the period from June to October 2009.

    Ahmed Hashim Bahrozyan, CEO of Licensing Agency at RTA, said: "The Agency has received 1492 online transactions, comprising two types: vehicle registration renewal, and driving licenses renewal. Vehicle registration transactions accounted for the larger share as the Agency has received 1308 online transactions of this type over five months; namely June (220 e-transactions), July (260 e-transactions), August (235 e-transactions), September (256 e-transactions), and October (337 e-transactions). As for driving licenses renewal, the Agency has received 184 online transactions during the same period."

  • UAE: RTA Rejuvenates Salik Portal, Toll Gate Maps Added

    Roads & Transport Authority (RTA) unveiled an enhanced version of the Toll Gate Portal (www.salik.ae) in a stylish design offering e-services in a smooth manner with easily accessible information and a roadmap of toll gates.

    Engineer Maitha bin Adai, CEO of RTA Traffic & Roads Agency, said that the purpose of upgrading the design of the website was to provide users & subscribers of the system with access to the service in a record time and a highly convenient style. Referring to the added features of the rejuvenated website she said: “It has a bilingual Front Page (Arabic & English) and a box to display the latest and key information, events and news of the system in the form of Links, where users can toggle between them to access the required information or surf the News Archive. The Portal provides an integrated package of the latest services along with a full explanation of the new features.

  • UAE: RTA Sells More Than A Million Nol Cards In 4 Months Through Various Sales Outlets

    It was announced by Mohammed Al Mudharreb, Director of Unified Automated Fare Collection Department (UAFC) at Corporate Technical Support Services Sector of Roads & Transport Authority (RTA), that the total number of unified cards (Nol Cards) sold since the initial offering on 22 August till the end of December 2009 totaled about 1.2 million Nol Silver Cards. The number of transactions in which Nol cards were used from the official launch on 09/09/09 till the end of December 2009 exceeded 48 million transactions topped by transaction made through public buses, and included more than 262 thousand transactions of paying parking fees applicable at RTA parking zones.

    The move is aimed at covering both the shape & content as well as easy access to information in a speedy and highly accurate manner, the authority said in a statement.

    Dubai eGovernment has announced that it has recently conducted its historic first meeting of all Dubai eGovernment employees during which the general strategy and direction of the newly established government department were presented. From being a government initiative, Dubai eGovernment has been made a full-fledged government department after H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE, issued in his capacity as Ruler of Dubai, law no 7 of 2009 establishing Dubai eGovernment department and appointing Ahmed Mohammed bin Humaidan as Director General.

    The UAE's new ambitious ID card and population register programme will forge a head with its plan to lay down the foundation for a bridge to a dynamic technological space that can contribute to building a flexible modern life, according to Lt.General H.H. Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Interior.

    ''Such a life will provide the ID card holders with easy movement, thus saving both time and energy, Sheikh Saif stated today on the occasion of the opening of the forum and exhibition of ID cards in the capital.

  • UAE: Salik accounts to be linked with more banks

    The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) will link the Salik accounts with more banks, enabling users to process the several toll gate transactions by using their own bank accounts, Salah Al Marzooki, Director of Intelligent Traffic Systems Department, said on Tuesday.

    At present, people with accounts at the Emirates Bank and the Dubai Islamic Bank can process their Salik account transactions with the RTA through those bank accounts.

  • UAE: Salik online recharge facility records strong response

    The on-line recharge facility launched by the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), in cooperation with Dubai e-government for Salik users has gained strong response with more than 7,000 transactions made within a week of its launch.

    The on-line recharge service, available on Salik's official website www.salik.ae, enables users to add further credit to their Salik account through three payment options: credit card, e-dirham or direct debt from the user's bank account.

  • UAE: Satellite images for ‘ground’ realities

    The Ministry of Labour (MoL) is using a satellite network to trace bogus companies, the Labour Minister has said.

    Dr Ali bin Abdullah Al Kaabi told Khaleej Times that the ministry had also launched e-packages to register companies and prepared a map to help inspectors gain easy and quick access to work sites.

  • UAE: Second phase of eGovernment policy underway

    A few weeks after the UAE Federal eGovernment released the eGovernment Service Enablement Policy, the e-government programme’s steering committee is well on its way of the second phase of the project, said Ahmed bin Ghannam, eGovernment project manager of eCompany, the strategic technology partner of the Federal eGovernment team.

    The whole Policies, Standards and Procedures project is divided into three phases. Overall, the eGovernment steering committee plans to develop about 80 different policies and standards. So far, 25 policies have been created in the first phase of the project but only three have been published.

  • UAE: Secure data exchange for Dubai immigration body

    Dubai Naturalisation and Residency Department has set up a data exchange to share immigration information with Dubai and federal government agencies.

    The Dubai Naturalisation and Residency Department (DNRD) faced the challenge of delivering secure inter-agency data exchange in the context of the country's federal structure, says Lt. Col. Khalid Lootah, Head of Information Technology at the DNRD: "Our department is charged with protecting a mass of information on citizens and travellers. However, the need to share this information with other agencies has become a high priority. Our unique solution exchanges sensitive information in a federated environment without surrendering strict control."

  • UAE: SEDD holds workshops for government departments on licences e-inquiry service

    The Sharjah Economic Development Department (SEDD) held a workshop at its headquarters, on the e-services offered by the department to government parties. The workshop, which forms part of the SEDD's ongoing efforts to provide advanced e-services to its clients - investors and government departments - that facilitate procedures and enable clients save time and energy, was attended by representatives of the Ministry of labour and the Department of Social Affairs.

    SEDD's current e-services include a licence inquiry service that helps government departments check the validity of licences and other related details such as the partners in the license, the activities covered, among others.

  • UAE: SEDD launches new office for Naturalization and Residency Department

    The Sharjah Economic Development Department (SEDD) has announced the opening of a new office for the Sharjah Naturalization and Residency Department at its premises in Sharjah.

    According to H.E. Ali bin Salem Al Mahmoud, General Manager of SEDD, the launch of a passport office at SEDD will make visa renewal and residency procedures easier. "It is an important step towards establishing an e-government that can finalize procedures quickly and efficiently, which saves time and effort on the part of our clients."

  • UAE: Service-oriented government plan in Abu Dhabi revealed

    The Abu Dhabi Systems and Information Committee (ADSIC) revealed today a 5-year plan for improving government services in the emirate.

    The plan aims to fundamentally transform the manner in which Abu Dhabi government operates and delivers services to its customer base covering citizens, residents and businesses.

  • UAE: Sewa services under one roof from Nov 1

    Customers of Sharjah Electricity and Water Authority (Sewa) will be able to complete formalities of securing gas, water and electricity supplies in one place from November 1, 2007.

    Sewa is working towards launching a customer service centre called Tawseel (installation) by which all the formalities for all kind of services provided by Sewa will be facilitate and completed.

  • UAE: Sharjah Economic Development launches new services on website, in line with e-Government vision

    As part of its ongoing efforts to make the best use of modern technology to provide the best services for its clients and investors, the Sharjah Economic Development Department (SEDD) launched new e-Services on its revamped website that aim to facilitate communication with investors and enable them to access the department's services with ease.

    Since the recent renovation of its website, SEDD has been working on launching a range of new services. The first new services included investor licence inquiries, payment voucher print outs, investor registration via Internet, and government department licences inquiries.
