  • AE: Abu Dhabi: Complete e-services by Ministry of Interior by year-end

    By the end of this year, all services delivered by the Ministry of Interior will become e-services, a senior official said yesterday.

    The ministry’s Smartphone platform provides an integrated comprehensive link to the ministry’s website through the Unified Login mechanism (username and password) to obtain services from any channel of electronic communication, said Major General Dr. Ahmad Nasser Al Raisi, Director General of Central Operations at Abu Dhabi Police.

  • AE: Abu Dhabi: CT project to enhance learning outcomes across capital schools

    Emirates Telecommunications Corporation (Etisalat) has installed the largest number of Internet access points in the Middle East in a single project connecting 268 public schools in Abu Dhabi to support iClass, e-learning and other IT applications.

    The Dhs330-million ICT infrastructure and technical support project provides high speed fibre optic connectivity for teachers and staff to improve the quality of education through use of advanced ICT services, officials said.

    Etisalat and Abu Dhabi Education Council (Adec) have announced the completion of this ICT project, which installed more than 13,864 Internet access points in these 268 schools in the UAE capital.

    The number of users of e-services on the Zakat Fund’s website has exceeded one million for the first time since its launch. The number increased by 200,000 in only two months, reaching 1,063,705 till Saturday evening.

    The rise in the website’s visitor turnout reflects the success of the new e-services offered by the Fund, which has contributed to increasing the number of Zakat providers, which in turn has resulted in an overwhelming escalation in the volume of the Fund’s resources year after year.

    Almost 134,000 fine payment transactions have been conducted via the Ministry of Interior smart application and its website between October 2014 and September this year.

    “Customers have several channels to pay their traffic obligations without needing to visit a service centre,” said Lt Col Faisal Mohammad Al Shimmari, Executive Director of the ministry’s Smart Government Programme. “Customers are able to access their inquiries regarding traffic fines or traffic files for individuals and businesses.”

    The Ministry of Interior has launched 169 electronic services through its website, and 30 smart services via mobile phones. This initiative is in pursuance of the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, and is implemented under the constant supervision of Lt. General HH Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior.

    The Ministry of Interior's Smartphone platform was launched for all types of smart phone operating systems: Apple, Android, Blackberry and Windows. It provides many direct services to link users electronically to a number of service providers in the country, such as vehicle inspection and insurance companies. The platform also provides an integrated comprehensive link to the ministry's website through the Unified Login mechanism (username and password) to obtain services from any channel of electronic communication. Users can register once using the Single Sign-On property directly on the website or through smart phones, and gain access to all the available ministry's services.

    The Customer Service Division at the Municipality of Abu Dhabi City processed 279,925 transactions last year.

    The municipality recorded a quantum shift in the volume and level of services rendered to the public through various service delivery points at the head office or external municipal centres.

    There was a record achievement in serving customers, which is an indicator of the improved quality processes made over the past year, the municipality said.
