The Ajman Transport Authority from the UAE has partnered with BPC, a global leader in payment solutions, to become the first authority in the emirate to implement modern payments technology on public transport buses.

This move aims to enhance smart services within the transportation sector, through introduction of O-CITY, a solution for Smart Cities’ and mobility developed by BPC.

As part of its main strategy in rendering the best and updated level of services, Ajman Police launched a new service offering smart cheques notification, 107 of which were lately logged in by banks.

Brigadier Sheikh Sultan Bin Abdallah Al Nuaimi, Police in Chief of Ajman Police, said that the new service comes as part of the ambitious plan of the Ministry of Interior to transfer all services into an e-government that will ensure fast efficient services offered to clients and saving the number of clients visiting the services centre.

Under the title: "The United Arab Emirates after e-Government", the bulletin said that the turning of ideas into production tools and reality took long centuries in the past, but those centuries shrunk to decades and then to just years and months. Now, we now live in a different age, in which ideas turn to reality thanks to the products of technology of applications and tools which have made it easier for humans to achieve their mission of daily life, and helped the exchange of experiences and knowledge between communities.

Minister of Economy Sultan bin Saeed Al Mansouri has expressed satisfaction at the results of the final report on transition to m-Government, which showed the marked progress the UAE is making under the wise leadership of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan and His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai.

''Findings of the report have highlighted the scale of positive interaction of teamworks in government entities with the two year grace period set out by Vice President to make the transition towards m-government, which was crowned today by HH's announcement of excellent results that reflected the scale of progress in e-services the federal government is providing to clients as part of the government modernisation initiative,'' Al Mansouri said in a statement following the release of the final report on m-government.

HE Khalid Jasim Al Midfa, Director General, Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority has said that the Authority is keen to upgrade and develop all its services in keeping with the directives of the Sharjah Government and UAE Government on the optimum utilisation of smart e-governance services and information in the Emirate. In this respect, he said, the SCTDA is working on a number of pilot projects in the field of information technology to develop and improve customer service solutions to effectively promote Sharjah and its tourism sector.

"The RTA has mapped out an integrated strategy to convert and deliver services online in keeping with the vision and drive of the Dubai eGovernment in envisaging the delivery of creative electronic services that meet the aspirations and expectations of customers with a view to enabling them process their transactions online without having to visit customer service centers," Al Tayer made these comments while receiving Ahmed Mohammed bin Humaidan, Director General of Dubai eGovernment, at RTA premises in the presence of the CEO of Corporate Technical Support Services Sector Abdullah Al Madani, CEO of Licensing Agency Ahmed Hashim Bahrozyan, and several directors of the RTA.

While the UAE scored relatively highly in both the environment and usage categories (ranking 25th and 30th respectively), its strongest performance is in the readiness measurement, where it finished sixth out of the 138 countries measured.

RTA Dubai App surged from 20,000 to 45,000 transactions per day this year

The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has completed the automation and renovation of public parking machines across the city, with touch screens and issuance of e-ticket and text messages sent to mobile phones using the mParking system.

RTA said in a press statement on Tuesday that going automated in line with meeting “the needs of the Smart City initiative and Dubai Paperless Strategy.”

More than 24 government entities currently use Dubai eGovernment's ePay gateway to offer eServices to their individual and corporate users; who can now make instant online payments through a broad network of banks and multiple payment options.

Dubai Municipality provides municipal services to the diverse population of Dubai, including urban planning, supervision of construction, environmental protection, conservation of public parks and professional services in laboratory certification.

In its efforts to improve the UAE ranking in the UN e-Government survey, a delegation from the General Information Authority (GIA) headed by Salem Khamis Al Shair Al Suwaidi, Director General of GIA, on Wednesday, visited the Ministry of Education offices in Dubai.

The delegation was received by Ali Mehad Al Suwaidi, Acting Director General, and Badryah Yousuf Hussain, IT Director at the Ministry. GIA delegation included Salem Al Housani, Deputy Director, and Ebrahim Al Badawi, Strategic Planning Specialist.
