Across governments, the private sector and civil society, the benefits of using data are fast outpacing the costs, and those who choose to invest time, effort and resources in leveraging data to boost productivity are already seeing results.

Oil Minister Shaikh Mohammed bin Khalifa Al Khalifa received Secretary General of the National Oil and Gas Authority (NOGA) Dr. Ahmed Ali Al Sheryan who introduced to him the electronic shifting work team marking the authority’s success to meet the requirements of the first phase which earned it the Trust and Accreditation Certificate from the Information and eGovernment Authority.

According to a survey by the Danish Statistics Office, supported by the Digitisation Authority, the rate of satisfaction with electronic government services rose from 72 percent to 87 percent between 2016 and 2017. Among people aged 16 to 24, satisfaction rose by 21 percentage points, and among those aged 65 to 89, it went up by 19 percentage points.

The survey found that 83 percent of the public have visited the borger.dk e-government website, up by 2 percentage points since last year. Eighty-eight percent of respondents said they were confident in corresponding via the Digital Post universal e-mail system.

Controversial Public Services Cards (PSCs) are set to be made a requirement for passport applications here just months before Britain is due to leave the European Union.

Amid ongoing uncertainty over the future arrangements at the Border with Northern Ireland, the Government plans to make the cards necessary for all adult passport applications and renewals as little as three months before March 2019 when Brexit is scheduled to take place.

MTN is keen on partnering government and other agencies to deliver the digitalisation of the National Identification system, Mr Phuthuma Nhleko, MTN Group Chairman, has said.

Mr Nhleko said the significance of the National Identification as a bedrock for National digitalisation agenda, and the efficiencies and cost benefits of e-government presented real potential for meaningful partnership with government.
