  • Ireland: South Dublin Co Council connects with citizens

    More than 100 community groups in South Dublin have signed up to use South Dublin Co Council’s (SDCC) online portal Connect.

    Connect Web is a resource that allows SDCC communities to create an online presence: the site creation and hosting is done free of charge and community leaders are trained to update and manage their group.

  • Israel and Estonia develop IT cooperation

    Estonian Prime Minister Andrus Ansip said at a meeting with Israeli Minister of Improvement of Government Services Michael Eitan that Estonia is ready to pursue closer IT cooperation with Israel, the government’s press service reports.

    Ansip introduced to Eitan, who had come to view the IT achievements in Estonia, the e-government information system that Estonia has used for ten years. “Besides being very comfortable and saving time of people, e-solutions also save taxpayers money,” said Ansip.

  • Japan Supports Euro in Estonia

    The collaboration of Estonia and Japan was discussed during a meeting in Toyko, mainly focused on the further development of the IT sector in both countries.

    During the meeting between the Prime Minister of Estonia, Andrus Ansip and the Head of Japanese Government, Yuki Hatoyama that took place on the 15th of February, the discussion focused mainly on collaboration of public sectors for e-services with only minor mentions about other issues such as an intensification in the economic collaboration and communications.

  • Jordan, Turkey discuss cooperation in e-government

    Minister of Information and Communications Technology (MoICT) Azzam Sleit on Saturday discussed with a delegation from Turkey's e-Government ways to improve cooperation between the two countries when it comes to e-governments.

    During the meeting, attended by Turkish Ambassador to Jordan Sedat Onal, the minister said that ties between Jordan and Turkey are progressing in various domains, noting the existing level of cooperation in the ICT sector. The minister said that Jordanian telecom companies have entered a strategic alliance with Turkish companies to build a landline fibre optic cable linking the Kingdom with Europe and the U.S.

  • Kenya eyes digital leap as Japan collaboration advances smart city goals

    The government has underscored that deeper collaboration with Japanese partners will directly support Kenya’s Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA).

    This came during a high-level Kenya-Japan workshop hosted by Konza Technopolis, under the Ministry of Information, Communications and the Digital Economy (MICDE) in the smart city.

    This strategic event focused on establishing areas for digital and technology collaboratiom between Kenyan companies and Japan enterprises.

  • Kenya: Telkom, Dimension Data in deal to boost govt’s new IT drive

    Telkom Kenya and IT services and solutions provider Dimension Data have joined hands with the government to enhance public services delivery through information and communications technologies.

    The partnership follows an ongoing government contract with private companies to provide bandwidth capacity necessary for the delivery of electronic government (e-government) services to the public.

  • Korea ready to assist Belarus with e-government development

    Korea is ready to provide assistance to Belarus in developing electronic government. The statement was made by Korea Information Certificate Authority CEO Koh Sung Hak at the seminar held in Minsk on 18 September. The seminar was timed to the 20th anniversary of the establishment of Belarusian-Korean relations, BelTA has learned.

    The European Union named the electronic government of Korea the world’s best in 2010 and 2012. It is an incontrovertible fact that Korea’s electronic government is the best one in the world, said the Korea Information Certificate Authority CEO.

  • KR: KIPA, China academy to collaborate on public governance research

    The Korea Institute of Public Administration (KIPA) and the Chinese Academy of Governance (CAG) agreed Monday to push a joint research of public governance focused on training government officials on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the establishment of South Korea-China diplomatic relations.

    The agreement came at a meeting between KIPA President Park Eung-kyuk and CAG Vice President He Jiacheng held at the CAG office here. As a practical measure to translate the accord into action, Park and He agreed to activate joint research on how to effectively nurture competent public officials for national development.

  • Local Administration Ministry Reviews State of E-Gov't in Syria, Turkish Experience in This Field

    The Ministry of Local Administration reviewed on Saturday the applications of e-government in Syria and future plans in this regard, discussing some of Turkey's strategies and pioneering experiences in this field.

    The discussion was made during a workshop on the applications of e-government on the levels of regions and localities, organized by the ministry with the participation of experts from Syria and Turkey.

  • Macedonia: Enabling faster and more efficient data exchange between state institutions

    The Ministry of Information Society of the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia and an IT provider signed on 21 January 2010 an agreement in view of the connection of the state institutions' registries and databases to an interoperable system. This will speed up and enhance the efficiency of the exchange of data between government institutions and bodies.

    During its pilot phase, the project will be implemented in five state institutions, namely: the Customs Administration, the Ministry of Interior, the Central Registry, the Tax Administration and the Cadastral Administration.

  • Malaysia: Lebanon assured of aid

    Lebanon is seeking Malay-sia’s help to rebuild the country and is specifically interested with the e-government and MyKad projects.

    Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi said Lebanese Prime Minister Fouad Siniora also viewed Malaysia as a model country which had successfully managed people of different races and religions.

    Mauritian company wins contract to set up e-government project in Namibia

    Port Louis (Mauritius The Mauritius State Informatics Limited (MSIL) has landed a big contract from the Namibian government to advise and help put in place an e-government project, APA learns in the Mauritian capital Port Louis on Friday.

    Kemraz Mohee, Director of the MSIL indicated here that the state company has won the 18-month contract after the Namibian government had invited tenders.

    Schwerin (dpa) Fast ein Drittel der Einwohner Mecklenburg- Vorpommerns kann die zuständige Kommunalverwaltung inzwischen auch über das Internet erreichen. Dem Zweckverband „Elektronische Verwaltung MV“ haben sich bislang 45 Kommunen und Ämter mit zusammen mehr als 500 000 Einwohnern angeschlossen. „Unser Ziel ist es, Bürgern und Unternehmern sämtliche Verwaltungsdienstleistungen von jedem Ort aus zugänglich zu machen“, sagte Klaus-Peter Glaser vom Städte- und Gemeindetag heute in Schwerin bei der Eröffnung der neu eingerichteten Geschäftsstelle.

  • Minister einigen sich auf EU-weite Vernetzung von Gen- und Fingerabdruckdatenbanken

    Die Justiz- und Innenminister der EU haben bei ihrem Ratstreffen in Brüssel am heutigen Donnerstag die Überführung des maßgeblich von Deutschland ausgearbeiteten Vertrags von Prüm (PDF-Datei) in den Rechtsrahmen der Gemeinschaft beschlossen. Das zunächst 2005 von Belgien, Deutschland, Frankreich, Luxemburg, Niederlande, Österreich und Spanien getroffene Übereinkommen soll eine vertiefte Phase der grenzüberschreitenden Bekämpfung des Terrorismus, der Kriminalität und der illegalen Migration begründen. Dazu sollen etwa DNA-, Fingerabdruck- und Fahrzeugregisterdaten elektronisch einfacher ausgetauscht und die entsprechenden Datenbanken vernetzt werden können.

  • Mitteldeutsche Städte kooperieren bei kommunaler IT

    Die kommunalen IT-Dienstleister eBit Dresden, KID Magdeburg GmbH und Lecos GmbH Leipzig werden künftig enger zusammenarbeiten. Dazu haben die drei mitteldeutschen Städte gestern die Gründung eines gemeinsamen IT-Kompetenzzentrums vereinbart. Die Kooperation der drei Unternehmen biete sich an, da sich ihr Dienstleistungs- und Servicespektrum ergänze, erklärt Dr. Michael Breidung, Geschäftsführer von eBit.
  • MOU Signing between Brunei Darussalam and Republic of Korea

    A Memorandum of Understanding signing ceremony was held this morning between the Prime Minister's Office and Ministry of Public Administration and Security, Republic of Korea on the Cooperation in the Area of e-Government. It is in line with one of the top priorities of the E-Government Strategic Plan of 2009-2014. Deputy Permanent Secretary for I.T. and e-Government at the Prime Minister's Office, who is also Brunei Overall Government Chief Information Officer CIO, was speaking at the MOU signing ceremony this morning, before signing the MOU on behalf of His Majesty's government.

    Awang Abdul Mutalib bin Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Setia Dato Paduka Haji Mohd Yusof said that in the areas of e-Government, Brunei Darussalam and the Republic of Korea share the common goals to provide better services to the citizens.

  • Nepal: Korea to help set up grand ICT hub at Institute of Engineering

    An Information Communication Technology (ICT) centre is all set to be established in Pulchowk Engineering College. The Korean government is providing US$ five million for the set up of ICT.

    Recognising the 'bridging the digital divide' is one of the most important dimensions to reduce poverty and to facilitate nationwide economic growth for developing countries, the Korean government has taken initiative to establish the ICT centre to share the benefits of information technology and develop digital opportunities.

  • Nepal: S Korea extends US$ 3.5m support

    South Korean government has extended financial support of US$ 3.50 million to the government of Nepal for establishing Government Integrated Data and Training Center (GIDTC) in Nepal.

    Resident Representative of Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) Kim Bok-hee, and Executive Director of National Information Technology Centre Subarna Shakya, signed a record of discussions on the GIDTC project on Thursday.
