  • Azerbaijan introduces mobile version of E-government portal

    Information Computing Center under the Ministry of Communication and Technologies has introduced mobile version of E-government portal (www.e-gov.az/mini).

    According to Ministry, the mobile version was especially optimized for portative devices, which was designed for comfortableness for view and saving internet-traffic.

  • Azerbaijan starts issuance of mobile e-signatures

    Azerbaijan has started issuance of mobile authentication certificates for mobile devices, APA-Economics reports citing ICT Ministry.

    The Mobile Certificate Center launched its activity on February 1. The Center has already started to issue mobile authentication certificates for use in mobile devices and tablet computers.

    Thus, first applications for obtaining certificates were already received. Within the framework of a pilot project, citizens can apply to the central registration points to obtain certificates. Currently, technical and organizational work is being carried out in other registration points and after the completion of this work citizens may be able to use services at these points.

  • UAE launches world's first store for smart gov't apps

    The UAE has launched what it is calling the world's first store for smart government applications through Android and iOS platforms.

    The store features over 100 smart applications developed by local and federal agencies and has been launched in partnership and coordination with Google and Apple.

    Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, vice president and prime minister of the UAE and ruler of Dubai, was briefed on the new shop and the next steps in the smart government initiative which aims to be completed by mid 2015.

  • Vietnam To Launch E-Tax Application for Mobile Devices

    The General Department of Taxation plans to debut its e-tax application for mobile devices, Etax-mobile, in August to facilitate taxpayers particularly amid the complicated developments of COVID-19. So far, about 99% of enterprises in the country are using electronic tax services. However, the proportion is much lower among individuals due to inconvenient support software. This is why the department began the development of Etax-mobile. In the immediate future, the application will be provided for individual use on iOS and Android platforms.

    In addition to supporting functions provided on the e-tax system via the web platform, the application will provide enhanced user experience services, additional search functions, and links to banks’ payment applications, according to a news report. The department said that, with 60 million individuals having tax codes, the use of Etax-mobile will help taxpayers easily access related administrative procedures and communicate with tax authorities. They can transparently and conveniently fulfil their tax obligations anywhere.

  • ‘Jordanians sent 1.083m SMSs in 2012 to ask about gov’t services’

    Jordanians sent more than one million SMSs in 2012 to inquire about public services via the e-government programme, according to the Ministry of Information and Communications Technology (MoICT).

    Meanwhile, government agencies sent more than 17 million messages to mobile users in the Kingdom in 2012 highlighting the services they provide or raising awareness on certain issues, MoICT Secretary General Nader Dhneibat told The Jordan Times on Wednesday.

    Citizens can inquire about 40 services provided by 27 public agencies using SMSs, according to the ministry.

  • 15 public agencies to offer SMS services in Jordan

    Starting December, cellular phone subscribers will be receiving SMSs informing them, for example, that their driving licence would expire in a certain period of time, or that they should report to a certain public agency to complete some business with the government.

    The new service will be provided under a project implemented by the Ministry of Information and Communications Technology. It involves a total of 15 public agencies and ministries that will send short messages to cellular phones related to announcements and services offered by these agencies, according to Director of e-Government Programme Hassan Horani.
