Experts have called for a fundamental shift in the way information is accessed and shared across the health system in Pakistan.

“The health system in Pakistan is straining to deal with increasing cost and demand pressures and a shortage of skilled healthcare workers. We have to move away from a reliance on tools such as pen, paper and human memory to an environment where patients, care providers and healthcare managers can reliably access and share health information in real time across geographic and health sector boundaries. The only way this can be achieved is through formulation and implementation of a world class eHealth policy.”

  • Schweiz treibt E-Government voran

  • Schweiz: Bund will jetzt E-Government-Strategie durchsetzen

• SG: Better links and info with new e-Govt masterplan

One-stop portal for govt data and apps among first initiatives launched

Engaging citizens is a key focus for the Singapore Government, and it will ride the digital revolution to do this, Deputy Prime Minister Teo Chee Hean said yesterday.

To this end, he unveiled a new five-year e-Government masterplan which will make it easier for the Government and people to exchange ideas and information, as well as improve ways to deliver the data.

  • SG: Charting the digital map for the next five years

Singaporeans as well as the private sector have a big role to play in determining the shape and form of the Government's latest masterplan for its electronics services.

A key thrust of the authorities' digital map for the next five years - which was unveiled by Deputy Prime Minister Teo Chee Hean yesterday - is ensuring that the information and applications that will be available are not just the exclusive domain of the Government.

  • SG: Engaging the tech-savvy with e-Govt Masterplan

Tech-savvy Singaporeans will soon have more say and enjoy much greater convenience in how they consume public services.

The Government is splashing out $2 billion on a new five-year e-Government Masterplan, dubbed eGov2015, which includes yesterday's launch of mobile government services and a one-stop portal for access to publicly available government data.

Deputy Prime Minister Teo Chee Hean highlighted a 2011 Institute of Policy Studies survey which revealed that among more than 1,000 Singaporeans aged 21 and above, almost one in three accesses traditional news sources through the Internet.

  • Singapore announces 5-year ICT vision

The Singapore government announced its new e-Government Masterplan 2011–2015 (eGov2015) on 20 June 2011 at the eGov Global Exchange. Teo Chee Hean, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Home Affairs said during his keynote address that eGov2015 hopes to achieve an improved exchange of information and ideas; catalyse the development of new e-government services and delivery channels; and improve public service delivery.

This new plan will “build on the success of previous e-government plans”. The most recent of which, iGov2010, is lauded in the eGov2015 brochure as having helped Singaporeans embrace e-government with almost nine in 10 citizens expressing satisfaction with the quality of e-services in 2010, and more than nine in 10 citizens recommending others to transact online with the government.

  • Singapore govt launches mobile and data sites

In line with Singapore’s new e-Government Masterplan 2011–2015 (eGov2015), the Deputy Prime Minister, Teo Chee Hean, announced the launch of data.gov.sg and mGov@SG — two public services meant to give citizens new public services and delivery channels.

“We live in exciting times where technology pervades our lives,” said Teo. “Smartphones make up 72 per cent of all mobile phones in Singapore and this number continues to increase.”

Hence the Singapore government has launched mGOv@SG, a one-stop government mobile site congregating more than 40 mobile government services, for customers who want to transact with the government while on the move.

  • Singapore unveils e-government masterplan

Singapore today launched its next e-government masterplan. eGov2015 seeks to bring integration of systems, processes and service delivery from within the Government to beyond the Government.

The vision of eGov 2015 is to be a Collaborative Government that Co-creates and Connects with our People. The masterplan will guide government agencies in the implementation of new ICT programmes in the next five years.

Developed with inputs from the people, private and public sectors, eGov2015 builds on the success of previous e-Government plans. Today, Singapore is recognized by international benchmarking studies such as the World Economic Forum’s Global IT Report and the Waseda University e-Government Ranking. Singapore’s eGovernment projects have also been conferred international awards which includes the Stockholm Challenge Award and the UN Public Service Award. More importantly, citizens and businesses have embraced e-government, with 84 per cent of citizens having transacted electronically with the Government in 2010.

Singapore is not shy about its information technology ambition. It has always positioned itself as the global IT hub, says Yaacob Ibrahim, the minister of information, communications and the arts.

Speaking at the E-Gov Global Exchange here, Singapore's deputy prime minister and minister for home affairs, Teo Chee Hean, noted that governments worldwide need to be more connected, innovative and efficient in "harnessing ICT to deliver higher, more sustainable public value".

  • Social media and re-usable data in Ireland's new e-government programme

All Irish public bodies are to draw up a plan of how they will make the most of social media to improve access to services. The policy appears in eGovernment 2012 - 2015 a government-wide strategy published last week. It also promises breakthroughs in open data - and in enforcing the use of a new public services identity card.

The strategy, published by the Department of Public Expenditure and Reform, marks a resurgence of interest in e-government. Although Ireland was an early leader in sectors such as online tax returns, e-services have taken a back seat in recent years while Dublin struggled with the country's economic crisis.
