  • India: Delhi named best state for e-governance by Dataquest

    India’s national capital has been declared the best e-governed state in the country by leading technology magazine Dataquest. Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit received the award from Chief Information Commissioner Wajahat Habibullah at a gala event here late Wednesday.The other winners included Lakshmi Narayanan of Cognizant Technology Solutions as IT person of the year, Sanjeev Bhikchandani of Naukri.com as the path-breaker of the year and D.B. Pathak of the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT)-Mumbai for lifetime achievement.

  • India: Delhi's Bhagidari Cell wins UN award

    The citizen-government Bhagidari (partnership) programme of the Delhi government has won a United Nations public service award among eight awards that honour innovative institutional efforts and novel models of public administration, which work to benefit citizens directly.

    "Out of the 215 nominations this year, one of the eight prestigious Public Service Awards is being given to India -- to the Bhagidari Cell, at the Office of the Chief Minister of the National Capital Territory of Delhi," UN information officer Oisika Chakrabarti told IANS.

  • India: Gujarat bags award for best e-governed State

    Gujarat on Saturday bagged the award for the `Best e-governed State' for 2006-07 at the 42nd Computer Society India (CSI) Convention held here.

    Goa, Jharkhand, Kerala were declared as joint winners of the `Progressive e-Governed State' at the award function organised by the CSI to recognise the best e-governance initiatives in the country, especially in the government sector.

    Department of Electricity of Lakshadweep, and Department of Health and Family Welfare, Gujarat were declared joint winners under the `Best e-governed Department' category.

  • India: Gujarat Is The Best E-Governed State

    At the CSI-Nihilent e-Governance Awards for 2006-07, Goa, Jharkhand and Kerala were also declared the Progressive e-Governed States.

    This year, the CSI-Nihilent Best e-Governed State Award has been clinched by Gujarat for the implementation and development of indigenously developed practices and software in the area of e-governance that benefit the common citizen. The Department of Health & Family Welfare, Gujarat and Department of Electricity, Lakshadweep were declared joint winners of the Best e-Governed Department Award, a new category introduced this year to recognise government departments that have shown great promise in delivering best results of e-governance.

  • India: Gujarat: Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation bags gold in e-governance

    For the first time in the history of state, Ahmedabad bagged its first gold in e-governance in the country. The gold awarded in Information Communication Technology (ICT) category that is for using technology to bridge gap between citizens and local government.

    The award proves that technology models adopted by Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) for its smooth and transparent functioning can be adopted by cities in the rest of the country. The award is being jointly instituted by the department of administrative reforms & public grievances and department of information technology, Government of India every year.

  • India: Haryana rated as Aspiring Leader in e-Governance

    Chandigarh, Oct 5: Haryana has been rated as an Aspiring Leader in e-Governance Readiness Index of the country for year 2005-06 and winner of first prize for TELECOMM India Excellence Award 2007.

    Haryana Chief Secretary Promilla Issar today said the Haryana was one of the front-runner states in implementing State Wide Area Network and Common Service Centres (e-DISHA) projects.

  • India: Himachal Pradesh declared second best state in e-governance

    Himachal Pradesh is the first state to launch state-wide area network in the entire country and a network operation centre has been set up to provide unified placement of data for the entire state at one place..

    Himachal Pradesh has been declared as the second best state in the country in e-governance. Speaker of Lok Sabha Somnath Chatterjee will give away the award during the 10th International Summit and Expo Power - 2008 to be held on November 8, in Mumbai. An assessment in this regard has been done by India Tech Foundation, Mumbai, on application of information technology (IT) and its use in government institutions.

  • India: Himachal Pradesh to get award for e-Governance

    B.K. Aggarwal, Secretary, Information and Technology announced that Himachal Pradesh has been declared as second best state in the country in e-Governance. An assessment done by India Tech Foundation, Mumbai on application of Information Technology and its use in Government institutions has recognized the state while the award would be presented by Som Nath Chatterjee, the Speaker of Lok Sabha during the 10th International Summit and Expo Power 2008 to be held on 8th November next in Mumbai.

  • India: Jharkhand nominated for best e-governed state award

    Marching ahead in its campaign for introduction of e-governance to improve efficiency, transparency and responsiveness in administrative system, Jharkhand has been nominated for best e-governed state award given by the Computer Society of India.

    The other nominated members vying for the award are Andhra Pradesh, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Gujarat, Karnataka and New Delhi.

  • India: Karnataka: State IT projects bag awards

    Two e-governance projects from Karnataka have crowned themselves with glory by winning the coveted annual National Awards for e-Governance.

    The Centre’s National e-Governance Plan has instituted these awards to recognise, foster and promote excellence in implementation of e-Governance initiatives, and is presented by Department of Administrative Reforms & Public Grievances. The awards are given in seven category under which Gold, Silver & Bronze icons are presented.

  • India: Kerala Tourism Development Corporation website wins State Tourism Award

    Adding yet another feather to its cap, the official website of Kerala Tourism Development Corporation (KTDC) Hotels & Resorts (www.ktdc.com) has won the Kerala State Tourism Award for most innovative use of Information Technology in the field of Tourism for the year 2009-10. The awards were given away by the Tourism Minister Shri Kodiyeri Balakrishnan at a function today.

    Talking to Kerala IT News, Cherian Philip, Chairman, KTDC said, “As the official host to God’s own country, this website is a great asset for us. We have realised that online booking is our greatest weapon for tourism promotion. The award is recognition of our efforts to adopt the latest technology to boost our business.”

  • India: Madhya Pradesh bags South Asia’s E-governance Manthan Awards

    Madhya Pradesh has won South Asia’s prestigious E-governance Manthan Award - 2009 for effective public service deliveries through innovative IT applications.

    According to an official Press release the Manthan Award for E-Governance has been instituted by the Digital Empowerment Foundation, New Delhi.

    Union Minister of state for IT Sachin Pilot presented the awards at New Delhi the other day.

  • India: Madhya Pradesh Forest Department to get e-Governance Award

    The Forest Finance Management System Software prepared by the Madhya Pradesh Forest Department has been selected for the C.S.I. Nihilent e-Governance Award 2009-2010.

    According to an official Press release the Computer Society of India, (C.S.I.), Coordinator Piyush Gupta informed the department about the award by e-mail.

    The MP forest department, in cooperation with the N.I.C. had developed the software on forest finance management system. GOS and GPS system was used while developing the software.

  • India: Madhya Pradesh to get national e-governance award

    The Madhya Pradesh Government will be given National e-governance award for its excellent implementation of e-governance. This award will be given at the 12th National Conference on e-Governance to be held at Goa on February 12 and 13.

    According to the information received by the MPPOST names of winners of 7 categories of the National Award for e-Governance have been announced. The forest department would get silver medal for using of technology in management of information regarding forest fire. The East Area Vidyut Vitran Company would get silver medal for use of information communiction technology in automated metering scheme.

  • India: National Awards for E-Governance 2007-08 includes agriculture as a focus sector

    The ambit of the National Awards for E-Governance has been expanded with the introduction of two new award categories from this year. In addition to the six categories in which awards were presented last year, this year (2007-08), it has been decided to award exemplary work in a ‘focus sector’ which shall be selected every year. Agriculture has been selected as the focus sector for 2007-08. The other category introduced this year is for a ‘Special Award’ for significant work done in areas not specifically covered by other categories, taking the total award categories from six to eight. These awards are presented every year by the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DAR&PG) jointly with the Department of Information Technology, Government of India, seeking to recognize and promote excellence in implementation of E-governance initiatives.

  • India: Official portal Gujarat CM Narendra Modi got the prestigious eGov 2.0 award

    The official portal of Hon'ble CM Narendra Modi (www.narendramodi.in) got the prestigious eGov 2.0 award for the ‘Most innovative use of social Media'. There were more than 400 entries for this prestigious award, The other two recipients in this category were Ministry of External Affairs' Public Diplomacy Division and Delhi Traffic Police. The awards were conferred at the gala event held at New Delhi on 28th October, Thursday evening.

    It's a matter of pride for Gujarat that its State Portal (www.gujaratindia.com) too won an award in the same event for the ‘Most user friendly portal'.

  • India: State bags 3 awards in e-governance

    Adding another feather to its cap, the state has bagged three awards in the National Awards for e-Governance 2009-10 of the Union Government.

    The awards were constituted by the Centre’s Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances in association with the Department of Information Technology for recognising and promoting excellence in implementation of egovernance initiatives. The State Government’s IT projects - Sulekha, Higher Secondary Centralised Allotment Processing and Sevenahelped the state win the most prestigious awards of the Indian Government for e-Governance initiatives.

  • India: Tamil Nadu govt bags best government website award

    The official website of the Government of Tamil Nadu on Thursday bagged the best government website award in the National Awards for e-Governance.

    The national awards for e-governance for 2007-08 were announced by the Central Government. Union Minister for Communications and Information Technology A Raja will give away the awards during the 11th National Conference on e-Governance to be held at Panchkula, Haryana on February 7-8.

    Gujarat bags five awards, Vadodara ranked overall best emerging city

    Gandhinagar, Surat and Rajkot also awarded in different categories

    Gujarat has been adjudged with five prestigious “India Today- Best City Awards-2013” in different categories at a function held here. While Vadodara bagged the award for overall best emerging city, Gandhinagar and Surat ranked best cities in category of Crime & Safety, Rajkot for Housing & Transport and Vadodara again for Public Services. All the five awards were received by Shri I.P. Gautam, Principal Secretary (Urban Development) of Gujarat Government from Union Minister for Urban Development Shri Kamal Nath here.
