  • UK: Newham and Milton Keynes receive European awards for pioneering use of telehealthcare

    The London Borough of Newham and Milton Keynes Council have received European awards for their pioneering use of telehealthcare solutions to improve the quality of life for older people and those with long-term conditions.

    Newham and Milton Keynes were two of only seven winners from 469 entrants across Europe to receive the 2008 European e-inclusion award, which were presented at the e-inclusion Ministerial conference in Vienna on 2 December, the concluding event of the Commission’s ‘Be Part of it!’ campaign.

  • UK: Nominations invited for e-government awards

    Public and voluntary sector organisations and their suppliers have less than three weeks left to enter the e-Government National Awards 2006. Nominations need to be made by 9 October 2006.

    The competition aims to recognise e-government services, public sector websites or IT developments which are improving citizen and business transactions with local authorities and other public sector organisations.

  • UK: Oldham Metropolitan Borough Council Wins 2006 BE Award

    Integrated eGovernment Named Top Project in “Best Overall IT Strategy” Category

    Oldham Metropolitan Borough Council, in Lancashire, England, has won a 2006 BE Award for its Integrated eGovernment project. The award category was “Best Overall IT Strategy.”

    The BE Awards of Excellence, which are judged by an independent panel of industry experts and presented at an evening ceremony during the annual BE Conference (www.be.org), honor the extraordinary work of Bentley (www.bentley.com) users improving the world’s infrastructure. These projects set benchmarks for their industries and showcase the imagination and technical mastery of the organizations that created them.

  • UK: Scottish Parliament's e-petition system lined up for European award

    A System at the Scottish Parliament is in the running for a European award.

    The Holyrood e-petitions system allows members of the public to send in petitions to politicians online rather than using sheets of paper. It has now been nominated for a special award which recognises the best use of the internet by governments.

    It is a finalist in the service use category of the eEurope Awards for eGovernment.

  • UK: Top E-uropean award for Liverpool City Council

    Liverpool City Council's transformation of services is grabbing European attention.

    In a field of top private and public sector organisations, Liverpool scooped a major local government award at the annual European Forum for Quality Management, in Berlin.

  • UK: Your London.gov.uk wins award for web accessibility

    Your London developed by London Connects, has won a Visionary Design Award for Best News and Information Site.

    The Visionary Design Awards are hosted by the National Library for the Blind (NLB) and took place on 2 March 2005 in London. The Award scheme recognises the efforts of organisations that ensure content is accessible to visually impaired people. It is part of an ongoing campaign by the NLB to encourage website publishers and designers to consider access technology, such as magnification, text to speech and refreshable Braille, when designing their sites.

  • UN e-Government award for Bahrain

    Bahrain is only one of three countries that will receive an e-Government award from the United Nations (UN).

    Along with Singapore and Spain, it will receive an e-Government Special Award for making significant progress in improving its e-service delivery and strengthening citizen engagement through e-participation.

    The e-Government Special Awards will recognise the success of each world region by distinguishing the top ranked countries from Africa (Tunisia), the Americas (US), Asia (Republic of Korea), Europe (the UK) and Oceania (Australia).

  • UN Honour For Bahrain

    Bahrain today made history winning the UN Integrated Workflow Management System (IWMS) Award. The global honour acknowledges the Kingdom’s Zajel e-massaging national project. A ceremony was held today at the UN General Assembly headquarters marking the tenth anniversary of the UN Public Service Award (UNPSA).

    United Nations Under-Secretary-General for Economic and Social Affairs Sha Zukang and incumbent UN General Assembly President Incumbent Nassir Abdulaziz Al-Nasser co-patronised the ceremony. Over 500 representatives countries vying for the award, ministers and officials in charge of e-Government programmes attended.

  • UN Public Service Day: South Korea to receive e-govt awards

    South Korea will receive e-government awards for first place in three categories at the United Nations Headquarters in New York on the 25th of June.

    In the recently released E-Government Survey published by the UN, the country topped the Asian charts in e-government, shared first place with the Netherlands in “e-participation”, and came out on top in the general global category for e-government.

    Speaking on Korea’s adoption of citizen inclusion in providing “customer-oriented” e-Government services, Alexei Tikhomirov, Acting Head of The United Nations Project Office on Governance, said that “the country has excelled in providing horizontal and vertical e-Government linkages among various institutions and nodal points, creating enhanced opportunities for greater participation and social inclusiveness.”

  • US Idaho Driver Record Dashboard Receives Prestigious Award

    Online service wins on regional and international levels

    The American Association of Motor Vehicle Administrators bestowed the Idaho Driver Record Dashboard online service (www.accessidaho.org/itd/monitoring) with its Innovative Use of Technology Award at AAMVA’s regional conference in Portland, Oregon.

    The service was also named the award’s International Winner and will formally receive that honor at the AAMVA’s 2016 Annual International Conference in August.

  • US: Access Idaho’s Innovative On-The-Go Mobile App Receives National eGovernment Award

    e.Republic’s Center for Digital Government recently named Idaho’s new Android-based mobile payment application, On-The-Go, as one of nation’s best government-to-citizen solutions in its 2012 Best of the Web Digital Government Achievement Awards. On-The-Go is offered through Idaho’s official website at www.idaho.gov and allows state and local government agencies to accept credit and debit card payments via any Android device.

    On-The-Go is a ready-to-use solution that accepts American Express, Discover, MasterCard, and Visa payments through Access Idaho’s secure payment processor. Access Idaho offers On-The-Go to government agencies without merchant fees or monthly minimums, and provides technical and marketing support at no cost to state or local government entities.

  • US: Alabama.gov Adds Another Award to the List

    State’s official website recognized for its simplistic and user-friendly design

    Alabama’s official state website, Alabama.gov, was recently presented with the Silver Communicator Award in the web application and services category. The award-winning website met the high standard of excellence set by the Communicator Awards with its ease of usability, innovative features, and a simplistic sleek design.

    This is the fourth consecutive year Alabama.gov has been recognized by the Academy of Interactive and Visual Arts, and the second year in a row of winning the Award of Distinction.

  • US: Colorado Decision Support Systems Website for Managing State’s Water Resources Wins 2018 Horizon Interactive Award

    Website design helps users easily navigate Colorado’s complex water system

    Leading international interactive media awards competition, the Horizon Interactive Awards (HIA), has selected its 2018 “best of the best” in interactive media production. This year’s honors include the Department of Natural Resources (DNR), Colorado’s Decision Support Systems (CDSS). HIA named the website as a bronze winner for outstanding achievement in government agency websites.

  • US: Maine Honored with Two National Awards for Its Online Business Services

    Recognized online services help streamline the business start-up process and protect Maine businesses from fraud

    he State of Maine has recently been recognized with two national awards for its online services. Maine’s Online Business portal, Business Answers, has been honored as a top government service with a Silver Communicator Award of Distinction, recognizing achievements in the fields of both creativity and communications. Maine’s Online Corporate Fraud Monitoring service was also recently acknowledged, receiving a StateScoop 50 Award for IT Program of the Year. The award highlights the best examples of influential State and Local IT programs that have delivered cost savings, superior performance results and partnerships between agencies.

  • US: Nebraska online voter registration system nominated for award

    NEReg2Vote, the state’s online voter registration system has been nominated for a national award, says Secretary of State John Gale. The web application is vying for “Innovation of the Year,” one of six categories included in the 2016 StateScoop 50 Awards.

    NEReg2Vote, launched by the Secretary of State’s office in September 2015, was the first part of the state’s online voter registration system to go online. The second part, managed through the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV), started in January.

  • US: Alabama.gov Wins International Award of Distinction

    State’s official website recognized for third consecutive year by the Communicator Awards for its outstanding design

    Alabama’s official state website, www.alabama.gov, was recently honored for its sleek, user-friendly design, receiving the Silver Communicator Award of Distinction by the International Academy of the Visual Arts. This year marks the third consecutive year Alabama.gov has been recognized in the Communicator Awards. The awards honor excellence in marketing and communications.

  • US: Arkansas Garners National Award For Best State Website

    Gov. Asa Hutchinson on Friday accepted the Center for Digital Government’s 2015 Best of the Web Award, which recognizes the state with the best government website in the nation.

    Arkansas’s win this year was its second since the award program began in 1996.

    Cathilea Robinett, executive vice president of the Sacramento, Calif.-based Center for Digital Government, presented the award to Hutchinson in a ceremony at the state Capitol. She said the state’s website, Arkansas.gov, had to excel in many different aspects for the state to win.

  • US: Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies’ Website for Prescription Drug Monitoring Program Receives 2017 Horizon Interactive Award

    An emergency room doctor meets a patient for the first time who claims a need for opioid medications. A pharmacist notices a consumer who seems to frequently refill the same opioid prescription. Whether it’s a licensed healthcare professional in a large city, a suburban area or in a rural community, there’s a short timeframe for them to be able to answer the same question — is this patient’s request for controlled medication legitimate or is it related to addiction?

    The answer is at the core of the Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies’ (DORA) Prescription Drug Monitoring Program (PDMP). The PDMP helps licensed healthcare prescribers and dispensers make more informed decisions before prescribing or dispensing controlled substances to patients. DORA’s PDMP website serves as a critical “front door” for licensed healthcare prescribers and dispensers to access this powerful tool, and was selected as a 2017 Horizon Interactive Award recipient.

  • US: Delaware’s eGovernment Efforts Recognized with Awards

    Delaware’s eGovernment initiative, which complements Governor Jack Markell’s goal of efficient and effective government, has recently received two awards from national groups. The eGovernment initiative, in particular Delaware’s new online Public Meeting Calendar, has been awarded an Outstanding Achievement Award from the Interactive Media Council, Inc. (IMC). The new Calendar system was a key component in Delaware receiving a 2012 Public Technology Institute (PTI) Award.

    “Keeping the public informed is vital to government transparency,” said Governor Markell. “We are striving to improve how we provide information so we make it easier for Delawareans to access it and have the option to participate in the public processes.”

  • US: IN.gov’s First iPhone App Wins Several Awards

    Indiana Department of Natural Resources offers recreationalists easy-to-use, award-winning free iPhone application

    Since IN.gov launched its first iPhone application with the Indiana Department of Natural Resources (DNR) back in March 2011, the iPhone application has been downloaded more than 11,000 times and received several honors as a 2011 Silver Award Winner from W3 and The International Davey Awards in the categories of Sports and Recreation and Travel. The Indiana DNR app is a first-of-its-kind that is provided and endorsed by the DNR and is available for free download at itunes.apple.com/us/app/indiana-dnr/id395591679?mt=8.
