    Der Computerbranche geht es schlecht. Die angestammten Märkte sind gesättigt, die Wachstumskurven flachen ab.   • Stadt Neuruppin und Amt Neustadt (Dosse) sind Brandenburgs eKommune2006

    Amt Brück mit Sonderpreis – Wachsende Bedeutung von Online-Dienstleistungen

    Der diesjährige kommunale Internetwettbewerb in Brandenburg ist entschieden. Die Stadt Neuruppin in der Kategorie "Kommunen mit mehr als 20.000 Einwohnern" und das Amt Neustadt (Dosse) in der Kategorie "Kommunen bis 20.000 Einwohner" dürfen sich als Sieger mit dem Titel "eKommune 2006" schmücken. Der Sonderpreis für interkommunale Zusammenarbeit im Bereich elektronischer Behördendienste ging an das Amt Brück. Innenminister Jörg Schönbohm und die stellvertretende Geschäftsführerin des Städte- und Gemeindebundes, Monika Gordes, überreichten am Freitag in Potsdam die Siegerurkunden und die Schecks mit dem Preisgeld in Höhe von jeweils 3.000 Euro.

  • Startschuss für e-community-Wettbewerb

    Demokratie via Internet unter das Volk verbreiten. Der deutsche Bundesinnenminister Otto Schily hat heute, Mittwoch, ein eDemokratie-Projekt, den e-community-Wettbewerb, vorgestellt. Teilnehmen können Gemeinden , Kreise und Städte, die Projektvorschläge für die Bürgerbeteiligung an kommunalpolitischen Prozessen via Internet vorlegen. Den Gewinnern winkt ein zweckgebundenes Preisgeld in Höhe von 100.000 Euro.

  • Stockholm Challenge E-Government Finalists Announced

    The Stockholm Challenge began five years ago as a competition among European cities and regions to celebrate their use of ICT in making government, education, and society more open, democratic and accessible. This latest competition evaluated more than 700 projects from around the world, and today the Stockholm Challenge announced its finalists for the 2003-2004 Stockholm Challenge. E-Gov finalists were selected by a six-person international jury on the basis of innovation, user need, accessibility and transferability.

  • UAE: Dubai Municipality wins e-government portal award

    Qassim Sultan and H. H. Prince Ambassador Mohammed Bin Saud Bin Khaled. Dubai Municipality has bagged the Best Middle East e-Government Portal award during the 10th Middle East Information and Communication Technology Excellence Awards presented at a ceremony held on the sidelines of the 11th GCC e-Government Forum at Dubai World Trade Centre.

    Qassim Sultan, Director General of Dubai Municipality received the award from His Highness Prince Ambassador Mohammed Bin Saud Bin Khaled, General Manager of the Information and Studies Centre of Saudi Arabia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

  • UK: 2004 e-Government awards launched

    The first e-Government awards, designed to reward excellence in the use of internet services, have been launched by the Cabinet Office.

    The Cabinet Office anticipates the awards being a "yardstick for UK excellence" in the run up to the general election with all councils, government departments and public bodies invited to enter.

  • UK: General Register Office Wins at Web Awards

    The General Register Office (GRO) has won Best Corporate Website at the annual public sector web award ceremony, organised by the Government Internet Forum.

    The new GRO website tells people clearly and simply how to register a birth or death in England and Wales, how to go about getting married, and how to get copies of the certificates for these vital events in people’s lives. It also offers guidance on the services provided by the Family Records Centre.

  • UK: Local Government IT Excellence Awards – shortlist announced

    Bracknell Forest Borough Council, East Riding of Yorkshire Council and Lichfield District Council with Staffordshire-Moorlands District Council have been named 2004 short-listed entries for the prestigious Local Government IT Excellence Awards.

    Organised by Intellect, Socitm and Solace, and now in their ninth year, the awards seek to highlight the use of best practice in local government and how IT has been used both effectively and innovatively to deliver Best Value public services.

  • UMTS-Ideen gesucht

    Vodafone will offenbar die Zeit des Aufschubs für den UMTS-Start nutzen, um Ideen für die Verwendung des neuen Mobilfunkstandards zu sammeln. Der Mobilfunkbetreiber und die Hessische Landesregierung haben einen Ideenwettbewerb für Anwendungen und Dienste für UMTS gestartet. Der Staatssekretär im Hessischen Wirtschaftsministerium, Herbert Hirschler, sagte in Frankfurt, es sei "Wunsch und Ziel der Hessischen Landesregierung, dass UMTS schnell und breit nutzbar gemacht werden kann". Einsendeschluss ist der 31. Dezember 2002.

  • USA: 15 INNOVATIVE PROGRAMS NAMED FINALISTS FOR PRESTIGIOUS AMERICAN GOVERNMENT

    The Institute for Government Innovation at Harvard University’s John F. Kennedy School of Government announced that 15 groundbreaking initiatives have made the shortlist for the sought-after Innovations in American Government Award. Each of the 15 finalists receives a $10,000 grant to support replication activities and is now eligible to win $100,000 in what is often referred to as “the Oscars” of government award programs.

  • USA: Alabama Wins National Award for Online Local Government Reporting Service

    Alabama's innovative online Local Government Reporting system is now an award winner. The Alabama Department of Revenue was recently named one of 13 Pioneer Award recipients by the E-Gov Institute's Government Solutions Center, which serves as an educational resource for online government providers.

    In December 2004, the Alabama Department of Revenue began providing city and county governments with an online alternative to cumbersome and costly paper tax revenue reports. The Web-based solution allows users to view reports, charts, and graphs electronically. More than 200 Alabama local governments are now using the service. The online reports require no special hardware or software and are accessible through a basic Internet connection.

  • USA: Digital Government Achievement Award Winners Announced

    Winners of the 2004 Digital Government Achievement Awards (DGAA) have been announced by the Center for Digital Government. The awards program recognizes outstanding agency and department Web sites and applications that enhance interactions, transaction and/or services -- in four categories: government-to-government, government-to-citizen, government-to-business, and government internal.

  • USA: eHealth Initiative to Recognize Leadership in Quality Through Health IT With Inaugural Awards

    Event in conjunction with October 11-12 Fourth Annual National Conference

    Today the non-profit eHealth Initiative (eHI) announced the call for nominations for its First Annual Improving Healthcare Quality through Information and Information Technology Awards. The deadline for submitting nominations is August 15, 2007. The awards will be presented in Washington on October 10 at an awards dinner kicking-off eHI's Fourth Annual National Conference: Policies and Best Practices at the National, State and Local Levels for Improving Health and Healthcare through Information and Information Technology taking place at the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center October 11-12.

  • USA: Freehold Town’s Web site wins award

    The township’s updated Internet Web site (www.twp.freehold.nj.us) has been selected as the Best Web/Electronic entry of the 2003 Municipal Public Information Contest sponsored by the League of Municipalities.

    Public Information Officer Sandy Belan said township officials were recently informed of the honor. Belan said she and Deputy Mayor Anthony Ammiano will attend a luncheon on Thursday and accept the plaque.
